Title: Turbo shot...
Post by: ecoboostsho on May 31, 2014, 12:19:54 PM
My front turbo was just replaced (under warranty) due to a leaking seal with 58,000 on the OD.  It was NOT the TSB seal where it leaks at the oil line but the actual seal in the Turbocharger.  I could smell the oil burning whenever it was stopped.  They replaced the entire turbo and in the process discovered a "Pipe" that was essentially blown out...I'm sure it was creating a boost leak.

My question is this - the shop manager stated it was leaking "externally" when I asked him if I should be worried about all the oil the intercooler/car has been ingesting...is that that type of external leak even possible on these Turbos?  (again it wasn't the oil supply/return lines).  I am worried its been dumping oil in to my intercooler this whole time.  Yes - I will be checking and siphoning out with a brake bleeder at a minimum.
