has anyone put gauges in there explorer? if so pictures?
Are you looking for pics of a 3 gauge pod or just a single gauge?
either just see what looks good
explorergotoluvit... maybe change the title of your thread to Explorer Gauges... might get you the info faster ..Just a thought
(go to your original post and select modify and just change the title to do it ...if you want to)
I want to put a boost / vac gauge in my ex but dnt want it on pillar any way to put it on steering colum//??
i have crash's 3 port dash pod on my sho, but on my chally i wanted a single obd gauge & ended up with this one. doesn't look like much but amazingly has worked great & i know one of the setting is boost. although not needed on chally. it also has a competition mode to run 1/4 mile.

I have crash's pod also and it is awesome!... but i don't know if it will fit the Xport. Check out bpd's driver side A pillar pod construction for ideas... both are posted here.
I've seen pics of someone's setup that mounted 2 gauges to the steering column, can't find them to share though.

Aeroforce has them for their Interceptor OBD2 gauge. That's the one posted here somewhere. I think it was either brucelink or TSS... plus you can monitor and record dozens of selectable parameters. PLX devices has the same thing on their gages, but gauge install is a tad more complicated.

the more that i looked at the obd gauges the less i liked the plx, that's why i went to the cheap on my chall. to me if i had the expertise i'd run what larry & another couple guys on here are running, the wireless connect to a nexus running torque. i flat out love the way larry's looks & the info he gets from it like kr is just impressive.

Here's an image of my set up, as it was then, and still remains to this day:

The center pod definitely would not work in the explorer, as the explorer has 2 air vents and the center speaker there. The pillar pod looks like it would work though, but wiring might be more complicated as the X doesn't have a speaker located there

Mike I agree completely on the PLX and truthfully their resale availability for questions has been less than what I expect.... their eye candy is nicer, not the gauge. I love Larry's setup too... but want to use the pod crash built me for 3 gauges. With 3 Aeroforce I think I can set 2 to display 2 parameters and the third to scroll through all available OBDII info... The longer I look the more I'm thinking 3 Aeroforce.

nothing wrong with your idea at all. the only problem is your limited to what the obd monitors & can you split obd to mutiple gauges.. I don't know about the sho, but the chally doesn't monitor oil pressure. wideband afr, or egt. now all those require hitting the engine somewhere to get the readings, so are more expensive to install. i really like the wideband afr as it immediately tells me if air/fuel mixture is right. egt I like as it measures engine temp. on my obd it's got some info like air input temp/ coolant temp, boost, things like fuel trim by bank. load rating , torque. my chally actually has a setting to show oil pressure the only problem in that mode can't surf the sirius stations, i like my toons a lot. really like the way todd did his aeroforce off the column. if money was no object would do the wideband afr, egt & an aeroforce in chris pod & another aeroforce like todd did his. but the thing i don't know is if you can split the obd to multiple devices, this is what the plx was doing, but saw a couple bad reviews & just to many boxes to make it work. choices/choices just stay away from prosport evos. like i said dynamite gauge at night time.

I do like the idea of WB AFR and Lamda measurements... everything mentioned can be plugged into the Aerforce Interceptor gauge if it's not in the 100+ parameters it can read.... a little drilling, but not where it shows!... Again... It's a personal choice, not a dis...here's the list of sensors that plug into the Aeroforce... If you have time let me know what you think. http://aeroforcetech.com/products_sensors.html (http://aeroforcetech.com/products_sensors.html)
Apologies for any HiJack...

it's a lot better gauge than i remember when 4dr brought on board. i would still add the wideband afr & egt, as i remember 1 taps the manifold & one the exhaust. then keep the 3rd rotating around. the problem that i had with my little obd gauge for the chally is that quite of few of the values were not available from its obd port. that's why i would get those 2 wired & have other do boost & rest. will be interesting if it can do kr. on one of my screens i have setup ambient temp & input temp. give you an idea of heat rather than cold air getting to engine. the key with any digital gauge as i found in spaded is how it shows up in sunlight that's were the evo's just don't get the job done unless my installor didn't do them right but he did everything else right.
