That design is a game changer!  Everything I've been looking for in an aftermarket CAI. Sure hope they do one for the SHO

Interesting CAI  ... I like it but there is way less clearance Under the Hood in a SHO and I think the real Issue  that needs to be addressed is  How do You get MORE COOL Air into The Box on a SHO .

This design shows som real commitment to outside the box (no pun intended) thinking. I'm hoping that same innovation will overcome the SHO's clearance issue. The window so the filter cone is visible shows attention to eye candy detail. I agree more cool air is always welcome but I think the biggest consideration.....for me.....is for no contamination by hot engine compartment air.

Wow. That intake seems to address every issue with the stock intake and the current selection of CAI's on the market.

Nice work!

The intake is for the F150, I have confirmation that I won't be getting them to make a SHO intake any time soon. :(

Regardless of SHO availability, it's still a nice piece.

I won't hold it against you.

I also use an S&B Filter thanks entirely to fellow EBPF member TomC612.

He was instrumental in helping me out with a fitment for my SHO & the staff at S&B were extremely helpful in getting a filter out to me. :ok:

So thanks to TomC612 for his help in that aspect. :thankyou:

Awesome to hear that 4DR is able to offer these through his company for our members, as 4DR always has the best interest of the EB Community at heart.

Disappointing to hear they won't be R&D'ing anything for the SHO's, but who knows, perhaps at some point in the future, they'll reconsider. :dunno:

For now though, you F150 owners are lucky dogs. Awesome stuff!

SHO  , Flex and X Sport share the same basic Traverse platform ... SO I would say they wont do them either .

We need SR to lead a charge into S&B territory (like the coilover battle) :D

I'm trying to figure a way to better seal the AirAid to the Underside of the Hood and Ducting to the Box itself .

Call me CRAZY but maybe a Fully Functional LOW Profile or inset Hood Scoop but only on one side ..

My question was based on a company produbing a product for such a small niche as just the sho. In there mind they wouldnt get mmoney back. But if u can make the case for same basic design used on mulipul chassis they get more excited

That would be the stock box which is sealed and takes its air from under the front of the hood.  Just trim the hood molding, throw in a K&N panel and you have the best set up.

I still think if you could get a larger opening capable of a higher  CFM flow rate  , that drawing in fresh air AWAY from the grill or engine compartment  to a filter with MORE surface area it would be a better option . IMHO

My spring project this year is going to be a homemade kit based on the Hennessey Performance kit using these parts I have coming soon.I may even integrate the Airaid kit box as the shield for my new S&B filter.

Tomc612... here's a look at a "one of" CAI as you describe that bpd had built and installed in his SHO to kind of get you a few insights.

Here's the system before installation: http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php?topic=470.msg2383#msg2383 (http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php?topic=470.msg2383#msg2383)

Here's his install post:http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php?topic=470.msg7762;topicseen#newere to system uninstalled (http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php?topic=470.msg7762;topicseen#newere%20to%20system%20uninstalled)

Hope this gives you some ideas.... Go for it! New thoughts could yield awesome results!  :beer2:

Keep in mind that the performance claims by all Hennessey, K&N, and AirRaid haven't been something anyone here can duplicate.... There are other reasons to have an aftermarket CAI though... appearance, sound of the engine, etc. In stock tune on my '13 SHO completely removing the stock OEM CAI so there was just an open tube intake with the hood up showed no more than 3 HP gain on the dyno over the OEM intake in place in back to back testing with the hood up at fan on.  Similar findings made by others here: http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php?topic=1185.msg12866#msg12866 (http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php?topic=1185.msg12866#msg12866)
