Title: It's GEEK Christmas!
Post by: geswek on February 12, 2014, 08:51:19 PM
Well; what do you do when you end a relationship? You go SHOPPING!

HAha; I've been wanting to upgrade my CIA Headquarters for quite some time and I decided to do it. I'm going to finish boost and AFR on car but right now rest of the ideas are on hold--want to do something else for now.

I'm not impressed with the Titans--wasn't worth the $2k in my opinion. The GTX 780 will handle what I need; hell my GTX 580 run Battlefield 4 without a problem. I figured why not, I needed to upgrade the rig--been going on 5 years with X58 Classified and i7-970 at 4.8GHz.

My kids 4770k + 7870 x2 crossfire setup runs 80-120 FPS in BF4 when it's working correctly(Doesn't happen often, lol)

SLI"d 780s are gonna rock, hopefully.

There are so many problems with BF4-Crossfire-SLI but I feel like the problems are be more pronounced and happen more frequently with Crossfire setups than SLI.

I haven't built a rig in a loooong time. I've been thinking about building a new one so I decided to finance my Son's for a refresher on new tech. It's been quite frustrating to say the least.

When everything works right, BF4 looks stunning on our 60 inch Panasonic plasma, so much so I've been daydreaming about 3 of them set up with Eyefinity, lol.

Good luck with your build, please update us with its performance.

I checked on the hardware; snapped some photos. I'm waiting on a few more things and I plan to tear it up this weekend given this snow doesn't delay some parts I need. I'm doing some work on my GPU loop.

When are you going to upgrade from CIA to NSA status?  You'd need some massive network pipe & storage to go.

I got the rig finished and tested; also located an airbrush artist who is going to do my panels. I should hopefully get them dropped off before I leave for Texas.

Here is a Photoshop of what he is going to do for me.

I do love my FIOS; the download speed is insane!

Right now the CPU and GPU are burning in -- no OC' but it's all on water. CPU idles at 28c and video cards idle at 23c; load on CPU is around 40c and video cards the same at 40c.

Here is some 3dmark benches I ran.
