Title: passenger side of vehicle blows cold all the time
Post by: black99lightning on February 11, 2014, 03:46:30 PM
Going into the shop tomorrow.  I noticed that the windshield on the pass side kept getting condensation when I had it on heat and defrost.  On the way home, I put the vents to center and it was very cold coming out.  Looks like I have a bad actuator in the dash.  Going to shop tomorrow and I'll let you know what they find.  Should be covered under extended warranty.  Currently 72K on the clock.

if that's your 1st in 72k you're lucky, i'm on my 3rd one with only 21k but since i've had so little trouble otherwise beside the fake chrome peeling, 3rd one of those as well, i'll say ford did a real good job on our car other than in the advertising dept, of course haven't seen an impala SS ad either, spending their money on the cad cts.

your right on the warranty, i've good extended 7yr or 60k & they told me on my last one @ the 3 yr point that i was on my own from now on with it. kind of like the red one people are doing or getting it covered with the vinyl like dave is doing on back of his but so far keeping power washer & an spray wax off of it. that actuator door is a goofy one, the first time i couldn't figure it out you feel warm one moment then cold the next. hope this is your last one.

Those doors are a known problem and it's not just our cars, they have been problems on Explorer's, older Taurus among others. I had to have one replaced before 20K.

Lol this is gotta be one of the most common issues it would seem. I have ratchet sound from behind glovebox when AC is on the ford dealer said he couldnt hear it but I think they didnt even try

It's not actually the door, its the actuator, and it's a common known issue, don't let the dealer give you BS, let him know you know it's the actuator for the door, and probably the one on the passenger side, since that's the one that commonly breaks teeth.  There is also one on the driver side. I would push the dealer and let him know that you can't believe he is not familiar with this issue!

my extended runs out at 75K.  I'm gonna put it up on the racks at work, MB dealership, make sure I don't have any leaks before I'm out.
