I sent this email to Danny at  Megan RACING  ..... he replied today

NEEDS a test vehicle in socal .....

email sent to him :

Please check this link  out
at ecoboost performance forum .

There are many of of there that feel you are leaving our members questions unanswered .

Many of the members are quite pleased with the Coilover Set that you offer for the Ford Flex and with only minor modifications it works on the 2010 to 2012  Taurus SHO as well ....

Since  Ford changed the lower front mount on the OEM strut we have been told that Walter Chen is looking for a test vehicle.  I Would do it but I live in Oklahoma.

I have a 2013 Taurus SHO that has many MODS and really want this Coil over setup.

My member name at EBPF is kbeck59 ..... please check it out as I am serious as are other members that want these coilovers

No one at EBPF has recieved a reply from Walter   ?!

Please update us on this .....

Thanks , Kevin

Hello Kevin,

The forum will not allow me to access that page. I was not aware that anyone had been looking for Taurus for testing. Do you know any forum members that are in the socal area that would not mind letting me borrow their car for a bit? This is the first I have heard that the Flex kit would fit with minor modification and if that is the case it shouldn't take me much time to draw up a new front bottom bracket that we can adapt to the existing flex kit.

Please have anyone that is interested contact me directly, either through email or at the number below.

Thank you,

Best Regards,

Danny A.

Too bad members don't drop a pin on the map.... just close is good.  Only 157 out of 700 or so did that.

Hmm,  DC contacted them already and so did I in early December. I never heard back so didn't think the ball was in our court. I also let them know I can leave my Esport for a few days if needed as I have other drivers...

I sent another email to Danny at Megan Racing trying to clarify that the SHO / Flex and XSport all Share the same platform.

HE IS TRYING TO WORK WITH US ......

He has thus far only heard from two XSport owners....not shure if he has replied to you quicksilver or dcpatters but he HAS read your emails .

I would appreciate any help that can be provided to me or any one such as Lanson or 4DR ( hes been working on this too ) so that they or I can contact Danny at Megan to Get this figured out .

1.  Are the OEM  front struts on the 13/14 FLEX   / SHO /  XSport the same part number .....

2 . I would like to take my 13 SHO to the  Ford Dealer I bought it from and see if I can get them to put it up on a lift side by side with a Flex  and an XSport to do a visual check to see if everything LOOKS the same ..... Not sure how soon I can do this though .... maybe next week .

3 If any one else could do this before me it sure would get the ball rolling sooner and benifit the whole EBPF community ....

Copy of email I sent to him as a follow up on wed 01/22 and his reply today On Saturday 01/25  follows  :

Hi Kevin,

Do the SHO and Explorer sport share the exact same suspension? So far only people with the Explorer sport have contacted me but I was not sure if they share the suspension or not.

Thank you,

I have contacted a few of the other members that live in SOCAL  ......  you should hear from them soon .
Some of them have Ford Explorer Sports  .....
The Ford Taurus SHO / Flex  / Lincoln MKS and Ford Explorer Sport Share the same platform and I Believe the Ford Edge and Lincoln versions do as well ...
Ford changed the lower strut mount on these models for the 2013-14 models.
Your current Flex kit works for sure on the 2012 and earlier SHO and MKS with only minor MODS
Hope we have good news from you soon with an expanding Ford Line up for Coilover sales .
Thanks again , Kevin

I know they aren't the same part number.  There's different part numbers between an Ecoboost and a non-Ecoboost Flex, so there's no way there's the same part numbers between cars.  BUT, I'd bet the difference is valving, while the actual exterior dimensions stay the same.

Hey there, it should but definitely check my threads where we took a bunch of pics, so you can see if they look the same.  They absolutely SHOULD though.

The valving may need to be different, due to the weight differences, etc. though.

Thanks for the reply  .....  I need your help if at all possible .....  I sent another email to Danny at Megan Racing and he sent me back a reply today ..... ON  A SATURDAY ! !

It may be heplful if you could email him as well , since you are more knowledgeable about coilovers.

He needs more info to make this happen   ......

Please check out the updated thread on this and post a reply if you can :

Kevin I don't mind helping but I am not more knowledgeable at all on coilovers.  I haven't used them before, for anything of my own at least.

Mike (4DRHTRD) does, he bought a set for his pre 2013 model, and he actually sold me his H&R springs when he bought his coilovers.  We took lots of pics (which Kevin can see here on the site or you can link them to him), on these threads:

There were others, but these were really good.  I took very careful measurements of my struts on my 2013, and especially on that last link it is easy to see everything needed to know if they are the same or not.

Copy of my email as a reply to Danny at Megan Racing for email that he sent today.

The 2013/14 SHO/FLEX and XSport all share the same build platform and from a visual inspection the front OEM struts look the same ...    As you stated in your earlier email , modifying  your existing Flex Kit should not be to hard to do .The  rear ones have not been changed and are the same as the 2009 - 2012 Flex and other Models on the platform .My guess is that the only differences between them would be valving and spring rates to compensate for weight and ride height  differences. The base vehicles part numbers from Ford are different than the 3.5 ecoboost versions of these models because these are built with more of a SPORT tuned suspension .
The two members that have contacted you have 2014 Explorer Sports  .... There ARE many members of our forum that heavily modify our vehicles , quite a few have XSports ..... SHO's and Flex's   ......
Between these models and the Lincoln versions on this forum and other forums  I believe you have a sizeable market to look to.
I will still try and find a  2013/14 SHO and or Flex owner in the SOCAL area for you to use but I think the XSport owners that have contacted you are a good starting point .

Thanks again  , and all of us at Ecoboost Performance Forum are anxiously awaiting your New Coilovers for the 2013/14 and we think 2015 platform .

SHONUFFBOOSTED ..... Kevin

P.S.   We welcome you to join our Forum   ..... to see what we are doing to the ecoboost platform ...
VERY easy to join in ... that way you CAN view all of the Posts on the forum  ...... We even have a VENDOR area .....

Well, it seems that we are keeping front of mind with Megan Kbeck, not sure what more we can do to encourage them to build a kit for the 13-14 platforms.

Remind him that the vendor join is free, I don't charge for that just for situations like this.
Once they have these available I am a dealer and will make sure to take care of you guys on pricing.
Thank you for continuing to press the issue, since I don't have a 13/14 to bring him the most I could do I felt was to make a post, thanks for taking over and driving the point home with him.

Yes, agreed!

I too don't own a 13+ model year.....

But it's nice to see others stepping up to the mod plate & pushing the platform, where we have left off....

I 2nd 4DR's sentiments. It's no cost whatsoever to become a vendor.

Normally I'd be all over pressing for this but it's wrestling season and I'm tapped on time and struggling to keep up with day to day stuff between main job, part time business and daily workouts and weekend tourneys. Thanks again!

We started with my son getting into wrestling at 9, 3x state champion, first kid in state history to drop 3 weight classes and win also 5x All American and Pan Am gold medalist. Now red-shirting at CMU on scholarship for wrestling. :) I learned in my late 30's and now 2x All American wrestling in my 40's at Veteran Nationals :)

Nice... My little bro is still a monster and holds many titles for wrestling and grappling. I don't know all his titles, but I'm pretty sure he as won the pan am's and grappler quest and stuff like that...
Wrestling is one of hose sports that builds real character and sacrifice that only a wrestler will understand...something that sports like baseball, football, etc.. Can't teach you...there is no golden paycheck at the end of a wrestling career like other pro sports... So it's never about the money for a wrestler... Lol
