Title: OEM Stereo Integration: Signal Prior to Sony Amplifier????
Post by: SRT82ECOBOOST on January 13, 2014, 05:45:30 PM
There was a post a while back where a member was going to attempt to get a stereo signal prior to the signal passing through the OEM Sony amplifier. I could not find the post, but hopefully that member sees this and can comment to if his approach worked and if it is a cleaner signal then picking up after the amplifier.

Not possible.  The OEM system sends a CAN Bus signal along with the audio along the same circuit and the Sony Amp actually parses out the necessary data.  So bottom line is that if you get a signal pre-amp you will lose quite a bit of Sync functionality including BT and audio volume control.

If you want the best sound you need to gut it all from the stock HU to the amp.  Sad but true.

There is an aftermarket HU adapter that helps you retain HVAC control.
