Title: Air Intake , FINALLY!!
Post by: TaurusBuilder on December 11, 2013, 07:58:54 PM
Many of you know, or don't know, I ordered a Hennessey intake. Well after weeks of no response with no awnsers I decided to cancel my order and go another route. And after seeing all the debates on whether or not CAI really add any power I figured I pick something a little cheaper and use those funds for other mods. So I choose the Injen intake for the ford explorer. Don't ask me why, just wanted to try something different. So it arrived today. Here it is

I choose wrinkle black to go along with my hard pipes. That way it kinda looks stock but not. Just my choice. Coming soon. I'm finally going to have some free time this weekend.

Interesting.  I like the blue filter.  Couldn't see where the temp sensor hooks up.

Given your own stated experiences regarding Hennessy, it kind of reaffirms all of the negative things that have been previously stated about them, by so many of their previous customers.

Moving along, I like the looks of what you ended up with....

Particularly that blue filter. Nice :ok:

Good question. Let me check. It has to.

Just seems like for that price they should be on it. None the less, this was 200 shipped. I saved 2k. I'll use that towards meth

Greg hang on to all your stuff, I hate to be the barer of bad news. You said was for the explorer? Well even though our cars share many things with explorers, the air intake plumbing we don't and completely differently. Hope I'm wrong as I have not personally look at a E-sport but that's my understanding.

Now your going to make me go check. But on the explorer forum, every intake for the SHO bolted right on with no problem. I guess will see. I'm crossing my fingers. But when I got it earlier it appeared everything matched up. Even the little hanger was in the right spot. Will see

I just know there is some differences in plumbing. But after looking at the pic's again and your right about folks using SHO stuff on there's. But I am sure it will fit, sorry for the false alarm. I was just trying to help you avoid a headache. Doh!!!

Is that pipe plastic?

If so could you measure the OD at the filter end?

Figment it's good. Especially since it's for an "explorer sport". Sounds good. Couldn't hear anything before. Now lots of turbo whistle and whooshing. Love it. Way louder than the air raid I had on my SHO.  This is a nice alternative. They should add MKS, SHO to there description now.

Can you get the tranny fluid cap so can unscrew it to check fluid level? It's the main issue with the airaid.

Looks good!  Filter is located in a good spot.  Maybe you can "cobble up" a plastic baffle like I did to keep much of the heat from reaching the filter under WOT!
