Would love to put 2013 tail lights on my 2011. Anybody look into this? what would it take? Is the wiring harness the same?
BPD has been looking at it. You need the '13 trunk lid among other things. Quite expensive I think.

Would be so worth it though...I hate my tails but I love  the full lights of the 2013
I did do some preliminary research into this mod....
The outer tail assemblies (stamped into the rear 1/4's, are the same between 2010 - 2014 model years.
The difference between '10-'12 years, and the 2013+ tails, is that the inner assemblies (located on the trunk lid itself) is what is different.
So an entirely new trunk lid from 2013/2014 would be req'd to purchase, in addition to the ENTIRE outer/inner tail assemblies.
Wiring schematics are different, and do require altering.
There's a "How-To" thread write up somewhere, albeit on/in another Taurus community. I'll have to go digging for it, and post a link here.
I believe the trunk lids alone (minus the tail assemblies) was in the range of $1,100 to $1,300. Didn't include paint.
So begin to start factoring in prep, paint, removal of old trunk lid, install of new one, then the price of the tail assemblies, as well as the wiring changes, it is a fairly pricey retrofit, to say the least.

man, I'd just buy some taillight tint and call it a day if it's that much of a PITA.
Some guy did do it over at TCCA and I thought he also had to replace the rear quarter panels to fit the '13 outer lights. Maybe it was just the trunk lid he had to replace, but he was a heck of a mechanic, he reprogrammed almost the entire car because he had access to all the Ford tools necessary to do everything.
Rear 1/4's are the same.
Only thing that's changed, was the angle & design of the inner assemblies on the trunk lid.
And you are correct mjhpadi, it was TCCA where it was posted.
The guy did have a bear of time with the electrical IIRC.
If you can find the link, before I do, by all means, please post it.
I am at work now, so it's a little tough to do from my phone.
I'm sure the OP, as well as any others desiring to attempt this mod for themselves, would be appreciative of the info.

I will attempt to find it ASAP, it was pretty amazing.
This seems like it's gonna be more cost than benefit...I'm better off spending my money somewhere else, or wait for a nice, higher end tail light swap from a reputable company
