Title: New guy from Jersey
Post by: bigmoneycloser on September 27, 2013, 08:26:18 PM
Ok got myself a 14 xplorer sport.  Right out the gate I had new 24 inch wheels and tires thrown on and bought a complete set on emblems, ford ovals and wheel inserts to be custom painted a Matte charcoal pearl to contrast with the black truck.
Chrome door handles are being wrapped matte black.
Just got my LMS performance package, including, Tstat, 3bar map sensor, CAI, pre-gapped plugs, LMS tuner.
Just got my strategy code and my tunes.
Everything being installed next weekend.
As soon as the down pipes and cat back exhaust are done from LMS, I will pick them up too along with the XV1 tune...

Bought the wheels a little premature... Now I want the H & R lowering springs, but I am not sure if they will work well with the 24's..... Any opinions on this is welcome....should have went 22's... But the 24's do look sick!!

You bought heavy ass 24's and then want to make it faster?

Hmmmmm.

Not that I need to explain myself...
I bought the 24's because they look BadAss!!!!
And the weight difference is minor in the first place!(these wheels are same weight or lighter with tires combined)
And I bought the go fast stuff because I wanted the extra performance.
Bottom line... I make plenty of money and I wanted a look and performance!!
I will have both and my truck will never see the track...
That's not why I bought it..

I will have updated pics with the custom paint for the wheel inserts door handles and badges.
At the End of the day the truck will look great and like no other xplorer out there and will be faster than most...

Mission accomplished!

Plus if I wanna go fast.... That is what my motorcycle is for...

Work hard/Play hard!

I'd recommend a big brake kit to go with the go fast stuff, but for the life of me, I can't find anything for Explorers past 2008.  AP Racing sells, or used to sell, kits for them.  TCE Performance or Wilwood, the biggest kit I have seen is for the SuperDuty at 16".  You would need 19" or 20" brakes just to fill out those 24s!

I found the same issue with the big brake kit.
I couldn't find anyone that makes the set up for 14 explorer sports.....
