Title: Drained GH-IC!
Post by: ZSHO on January 11, 2020, 07:59:58 AM
I was curious if anyone has checked/inspected their recently installed upgraded GH-IC for oil pooling! If so what amount did you drain and what intervals via NPT plug ! TIA. Z

That's a great question.  I'm at 75k miles and my throttle body has always been clean as a whistle. Pulled my induction pipes off last week to test fit the new CAI and had a good coating of oil in them, so I'll be installing the catch can that's been sitting on the work bench.  Like you, I'd be curious how much condenses and pools in the intercooler.

I have my GH intercooler for about 3K miles now, will be doing oil change in about a month, will drain it then and report back.

I had my GH IC installed by a shop and never had a chance to see where the drain plug is installed. Does anybody have an idea? (Driver/Passenger/ect)?

It should be on the Passenger side . If you're facing the Front of the vehicle then it would be on your Left side. Z

[Bottom right]

I had my GearHead intercooler drained after 5K miles.
Few drops of oil and few drops of water came out, here is the video of me draining with results:  https://youtu.be/LWbKxMC2ps8
