Title: Driveline swap from 15 sho into 10 sho??
Post by: Spyder3000gtvr4 on June 18, 2018, 06:42:00 PM
Looking to finally get into my Sho.
So my turbos are shot on my 2010 sho and looked into oem replacements due to mileage (150k) about 900-1000$ I found an Sho engine/trans from a 2015 sho for 2k says it has oil cooler so pp perhaps?!? It doesn't have the transfer case. I was considering dropping this into my Sho non pp I believe. Now from my research on the Sho forum I've found that I can use the engine by swapping 2 sensors from my motor and I'm good. Not sure about the trans and will my 2010 tcase bolt into the 15 trans.
Now this is really the route I'd prefer to go because 40k beats 150k. Then it leaves me with my engine that I can rebuild, put the atp turbos on. Rebuild the trans and use this driveline in my midengine build all without sacrificing a really nice sho even thought that's the entire reason I purchased this car.
I'm not sure if this is the right section to post if not my apologies

Think you need to use your flexplate not the one new motor.  Also if this is out of a PP car and yours is a non PP car, that trans WILL NOT WORK!.  There are different final drives for a PP and nonPP cars.

Ok so if it is indeed the pp car and mine is not then I would need the rear diff as well. So then I'm not sure if the tcase would be the same. I'd assume the driveshaft and axles would all be the same.

You are correct, you would need the rear out of the donor car.

TBH, I would use VINs from a nonPP SHO and a PP SHO to compare the parts differences for the transmission and axles etc.  I have no reason to believe the PTU (internally)/axles are any different, but yes, the transmission itself is different.  You could flash in the appropriate as-built data to the PCM, but I assume a 2010-12 as-built would be good enough, you have to find the right files for it.  Also, regardless of what drivetrain you are putting in, you will need to update the solenoid body strategy in the PCM so it shifts correctly, a minor detail in the scheme of things, but needs doing.

thank you for all that information. Ive Found another driveline waiting to hear back from the guy about specifics and will post on here. Also found somebody with oem turbos with 50k for a very very reasonable price.... so rather tempted to just grab those. To many decisions wish this car wasn't so nice it looks like it's turning into my spare daily driver

Well the guy with the turbos hasn't answered in days. The seller on eBay has a 2013 driveline with no transfercase. It has 35k on it vin 1FAHP2KT3DG139317. The car I plan on putting it into is 1FAHP2KT4AG129732.

Not sure what criteria you will use to assure compatibility.  BUT, I believe you can register on www.etis.ford.com (http://www.etis.ford.com) and then look up the VINs.
