Title: 10-12 PP vs non-PP brake calipers?
Post by: Colorado-SHOBro on January 22, 2018, 11:44:54 PM
Looking to do a slight overhaul of my brake system debating between the following calipers:
Non PP-
Powerstop S5214
PP(assuming HD in this case is referring to PP)
S5468
Here's the rockauto catalog with referenced calipers
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2014,explorer,2.0l+l4+turbocharged,3298527,brake+&+wheel+hub,caliper,1704 (https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2014,explorer,2.0l+l4+turbocharged,3298527,brake+&+wheel+hub,caliper,1704)

Not a huge price difference but wondering if the "HD" option offers any advantages?

anyone know what the difference is?

TIA

I'm pretty sure the PP calipers have a vented piston. There was a picture here somewhere that show the differences awhile back.

The vented piston IIRC was implemented in 2013, along with different seals.  mrhighcaliber had posted pics during his brake upgrade project.

From what I recall, the only thing that changed were the pads only for those model years.

There was no differentiation regarding the calipers exclusively.
