Title: SHO vs Explorer Sport
Post by: shaundizzle15 on April 28, 2018, 09:42:58 PM
I currently own a 2013 SHO thinking of switching to an Explorer Sport. Family is getting larger etc. Anyone own both? Any major drawbacks going to the Sport minus fuel mileage ? Hardware is the same correct as far as engine and trans ? Also, I'm planning on tuning in the future wether I keep the SHO or move onto a Sport, anything I should know there?

Thanks as always,
Shaun

I went the other direction.  My first Ecoboost was a 2015 Explorer Sport, but I traded it for my 2015 SHO.  The Explorer has the 3.16 gears that the SHO PP has, to make up for the extra weight.  But the Explorer was never as quick as my SHO.

Coming from a 2007 F-150, I thought I still wanted/needed some of that extra space for its utility value.  But I really didn't use it for that, and it turned out, I kind of missed driving a car.  The Explorer was fun, but in a "truck," I didn't really feel connected to the road as much as a car.  For a growing family, you may need the extra space, so take my comments for what they're worth.

We have both and both have LMS 3bar 93 tunes. We love them both. There are trade offs with the higher profile bigger car but for what it is it's still a blast to drive. I've taken them both to the track and the SHO was 12.52 and the sport was 13.57

The explorer sport will hold it's value a ton better.  My SHO compared to the same Explorer sport with options there's about a 10k difference right now in NADA book value.  I've noticed it with looking at classifieds too.
