Title: Ecoboost Severe HPFP
Post by: Livernois Motorsports on March 20, 2018, 04:29:31 PM
The Firestorm High Pressure Fuel Pump for Ford direct injection engines! Our extensive work with the Ford Ecoboost family of engines has revealed a common road block when trying to add more power; the factory High Pressure Fuel System. While the factory fuel system is adequate for stock vehicles these engine quickly run out of fuel with even basic performance upgrades. To help combat this, we have developed our New Firestorm High Pressure Fuel Pump Upgrade kits for the 3.5 Ecoboost in passenger cars like the Taurus SHO and the Lincoln MKS sedans. The new Firestorm Fuel Pump supplies up to 60% more fuel than the factory fuel pump. This is a complete bolt on upgraded kit included is the new high pressure fuel pump, new custom fuel line and hardware to make installation easy. While the installing of the pump is fairly easy it must be accompanied by custom tuning to work correctly. If you already have a MyCalibrator tuner contact us for your free update, if you don't have a MyCalibrator tuner one can be purchased separately with the file required to use this great new fuel pump.

I put in the title that this is our severe pump which is the top notch best pump offered currently that we use on alot of our taurus sho builds!

So it is a linear gain of 60% increase in flow at ALL speeds/loads? If so that may answer the question, if we know the stock pumps flow in cc's/cam rotation. However, if that is not the case, and still even if it is, I don't believe this answers the question.

Ok just wanted to make sure.  This is the pump that Rich is running with other supporting mods to run full E85.

Not really a direct answer...these pumps are rated in cc/cam rot

Is that flow on Y and Cam Rotation on X? Or is X RPM? Or ...? Would help to have some labels on the X and Y axis, as well as units

X is RPM and Y is LPH, this is how we rate the pump not my ccs/cam rot

That works, I can convert from LPH, thanks!

Thanks for that clarification. The next question that comes to mind from the graph, there are 4 listed pumps (Firestorm and Severe Firestorm w/o revised lobe, and Firestorm and Severe Firestorm w/ revised lobe). Is the revised lobe the only version that is for sale, since it clearly out-performs the other, or is one version the SHO/transverse version, and the other for F150/longitudinal?

Along with the above question, the RPM is going to ~7200 it seems, is there a reason for that? Since in the SHO atleast the turbo is pretty maxed out at higher RPM, and the shift points are only as high as about 6200 RPM IIRC.

Thanks!

The only one for sale is the best one of course, and we run the pump to see where it no longer continues to climb and caps out

The stocker is rated in cc3/cam rot.

At 6750 the severe duty pump with modified lobe (cam lobe?) flows damn near double the stocker

Cam spins at 1/2 crank speed so.....

Stock Pump

6750/2*1.12 = 3780 cc3/min

3780 cc3/min converts to 226.8 LPH

So 76% increase at 6750

What I don't know is what effect the 4th cam lobe has on the calculations.

Edited for math, please check and correct my work if needed.
