At the dealer getting the oil leak fixed, (under warranty)
Lo and behold the torque converter is junk and

Time for a trans and converter upgrade....! ..?
You've by far, had the worse luck that I can readily recall with this platform.
Goodness.

Tough break... i know how it feels sir.. when it runs great its *amazing* .. but dammit it keeps breaking!
Racing puts stress on stuff :) Where is the oil leak coming from? Turbos, feed lines, ...?
Yeah the TCs have been saying goodbye. I think the 6F50 and 55 share the same part number for 2010-12 MYs! Dunno if that means the innards are the same.

So far the only real upgrade is a) fluid and b) the Sonax Zip Kit Plenty of pie in the sky promises if you are inclined to believe them.

Oil Leak is from the timing cover, so that was from day one of the engine install, the
dealer has been wonderful, up until the list of additional items they want to sell me,
along with the warranty issue. Turbos are fine, And after all that, my head is spinning...

Circle D has a slightly upgraded TC and Matt Robinson has a billet upgrade coming out in 8-10 weeks? You would need to email him...
The Circle D will not help your 1/4 mile times, but no idea on the beating it can take.
Curious to see what Gearhead produces for the TC. This will be a "moving" part, so fingers crossed it works out.

Matt said a Billet Multi Disc Torque Converter and better coupled at WOT so the converter has to do less working... according to him.. 6-8 weeks out... should be strong enough to hold well over 500hp I am assuming..

It is refreshing to see another vendor stepping up and fabricating product for the platform, and picking up the torch so to speak, where other vendors may have left off.
Odd to wrap my head around the fact that my SHO is 9yrs old, and that an IC upgrade has just now recently been released.
Kudos indeed.

The 6F55 torque converter mounts the flywheel with 4 bolts and the 6F50 torque converter has only 3. The parts are definitely different. There was also some reference by Ford to number of internal modifications of the 6F55 torque converter. If you are going to install a new one, make sure you get the right part. Also, these converters are designed to have some allowed "slip" during torque converter clutch lockup and they use a specialty carbon fiber material to allow this. Apparently the material was first developed by GM and then, I assume, Ford got access to it as part of the collaboration on the transmission design between the 6T70/75 and the 6F50/55. So, be careful to make sure that any aftermarket converter has the proper type of clutch material available . . .
What year torque converter are you referring to, abs? Is the difference present in all MYs of the SHO?
And a pic from the top of the converter looking at the destroyed Ring
Bottom Ring supposed to be completely gone, will drain and take a pic next Week
