Maintenance and Troubleshooting / Spark plug replacement tips?
« Last post by Mml665 on November 27, 2022, 11:11:56 AM »
I purchased new spark plugs, the expert at Autozone emphatically stayed the Delco plugs were oem. I said why not Motorcraft?
Nope he said Delco was what is called for. Now let me say two people assisted me that day in that location and both were rude. First question I have is should I exchange these Delco plugs for Motorcraft? I searched online for some instructions on plug change, however never really found any good instructions. The plugs on the front of motor seem simple enough, any tips for the plugs near the firewall? So far my research has yielded that the gap range is .30 - .37. If anyone can share a link to video or instructions that I could print out I would greatly appreciate it.

Performance Upgrades / Diverter valves

On the mks there are 2 diverter valves on one turbo outlet hose but connect to both intake hoses. Is having both of them necessary if one of them isnt even connected to the other outlet hose? Or would it be ideal to install 2 where each one connects to only one inlet and outlet hose?

I did end up installing the thicker PP SHO radiator in the MKS. It was not a fun install but it seems to have made an improvement. There were also some rubber pieces that are supposed to help redirect air into the cooling stack that were missing. In the 60-70 degree temperatures at this time of the year the car is putting down power consistently and not showing signs of overheating. I was having issues with my Wilwood setup on the front so I had Carbotech cut some XP12 race pads for the stock caliper, but they didnt show up in time for a track day I did at the new Charleston Peak track at Spring Mountain in Pahrump, NV. I had some Porterfield R4-S street pads on there and they had severe fade and ended up completely disintegrating so I unfortunately don't have any good track footage yet.
Troubleshooting / Re: Headligh tcoming on by itself, car is off

The battery checked out to ne good and is only 1-1/2 years old. I can't get the BMS to reset, I wish I could.
The thing that has me confused is a module would have to command only one headlight to be on.
Since I separated the wires (that were repaired) I haven't had any reoccurance of the problem.
I assume one of the wires was hot and shorting to cause the headlight to power on and this is why the car didn't see the draw and kill power to save the battery.

The headlights have a hot all of the time wire straight to them from the fuse. They are grounded through the BCM to command them. There is also a wire for the ground for the shutter in that same bundle of 4 wires. The shutter gets power from the BCM. If the ground wire for the headlight (going to the BCM) shorted against the ground for the shutter, it would complete the circuit and turn the light on. This wiring is excellent for preventing voltage drop and getting maximum brightness for the bulb. However, it presents an issue if the wiring is damaged like this.

Has anyone gotten an h-pipe installed? Its supposed to give the exhaust a deeper tone than a raspy one from an x-pipe, whoch is what i like. I cant stand an exhaust that sounds like a fart can.

PP is Performance Package. A package for Law Enforcement vehicles and the like. Regular folks can order it too.

The brake pads, for instance, are interchangeable with the Non PP SHOs ( 2013 on up? ) and are better so its a great replacement.

PP is a Performance Package but differs from the PI package for law enforcement vehicles. They share some of the same options/components. In 2019, the PP includes enhanced sport-tuned suspension, high-performance front brake pads, sport-calibrated steering, AdvanceTrac electronic stability control with

Those break pretty easy any time you pull the front bumper cover off. Just go to any Ford dealer and they most likely have it in stock..not a SHO specific part. $15ish if I  remember correctly.
