Title: Mini review of new AD Dogbones
Post by: avidmotion on May 22, 2020, 06:58:12 PM
I want to do a small review of the Anthony Dicunzolo Gen2 dog bones/ trans -engine mounts.
I received my mounts from Anthony several months ago. Unfortunately I was separated from my car for several months while I do 12 rounds of chemo in Naples Florida. With the current pandemic I had no way to get my car until just recently. I immediately had the dogbones put on.
First thing you will notice upon arrival is they are a work of art. Perfect welds, great paint job, athesically pleasing complete with zerk fittings for lubrication. Mine came pre-lubed with a clear synthetic lube.
My wife wanted to see them but I called them wishbones, not dogbones so while rooting around the back of the car she said she did not see anything like a wishbone. Later while talking I called them correctly dogbones. She said immediately she saw the nice "dogbones" but thought that could not be them. She said they are too nice to GO UNDER your car!
Nethertheless they installed nicely in 15 minutes.(at a mechanics with lift and air tools) Mechanic torqued inside to 76 and outside to 80 lbs. Not sure what that means I was not there to see install.
First thing upon start up is the different sound of your motor. It has a low bass growl, subtle yet noticeable but gone by 35 mph. Car is more responsive to inputs, totally got rid of the once in awhile wheel hop I get, has a real connected feel to the road and improved my already near perfect shifting. (I also changed trans fluid to Amsoil same time) Now 1st to 2nd while under WOT is like a dual clutch, can not feel the shift can just hear rpms change. Second to third is a nano second shove forward, 3rd to 4th no difference noted....rarely get into 4th or above in WOT....
So in conclusion I love them, would highly reccomend and would do again kind of thing. Great job Anthony!

Well OEMs dont have grease.

I copper never seized mine one time and thats it for me.

I would use a synthetic based lube if you want to get picky.

Agreed. I can't remember a single dogbone style mount that used grease. I never understood the grease certs on these. Vibration is part of the game. But to each his own. I'm sure some swear by it.

If you want to add some grease, Dielectric grease is compatible with Poly bushings. I don't have zerks on my mounts, but a added some to the bushings before install.
