So, I have Z23 Powerstop evolution brakes on all 4 corners, pads and rotors.
Have them for about 5-6mo now, and boy are they loud at stopping,
I did my brake-in and all of that but hitting hard at high speed sounds like a I am stopping a tractor, LOL
So question to all of you powerstop users, are you having same issue or have anyone find a solution/fix to this? Maybe different pads?
I believe its the slots making noise when slide across the pads, combination of the pads material and the slot resonates some how.
Any input welcome
Thank you
That's how they were on my SHO a few years back. Never really bothered me, but yeah the slots+holes will create more noise
I can live with that, it's just when I am with people in the car, hitting brakes, everyone like, WTH?? is this normal?
The fix on my 2011 was to replace them with solid rotors and Akebono pads :( A couple decent brakes at highway speed and they got loud and felt like s***.
Has anyone with PowerStop setup tried using stock SHO pads?
I don't care about dust, I was car once a week, no issue there, I am just wondering if stock pads can better performance of current rotors
Imagine driving over a pothole with no spring-rebound suspension. Same thing is happening when the pad is passing over the slot. Slots have air, air carries sound. The rotor is only 13 inches. Imagine how many times this event occurs while you are driving.
Yes, my Power Stops make sound, but I have gotten used to it. Much better than using, say, Hawk HPS on a blank rotor :D
My powerstops are quiet during braking. However they have the regular slotted and drilled sound at low speeds.
I don't care for the Z23 ceramic pads honestly. I am going to swap them out with a stock PP pad soon.
yeah the Z37 is a much better fit if you can find it.
