I have the original battery still in my 16 SHO which is still working perfectly but 6 years old now has me thinking should I change it or roll the dice and just continue as is with my jump box in the car..

Change it.
Absolutely.
You my friend are living on (extreme) borrowed time.

Not only is it borrowed time for starting/charging, it is most likely weak. Everything on these vehicles has a sensor or 2. When the vehicle has weak voltage, it will change everything about the car. From making the alternator work harder to sensors being slightly off of their optimum. Keeping your electrical system in tip top shape will help the car run optimally.
New battery installed. The old one never let me down but 6 years like you guys said I was on borrowed time with it..

Not worth the $$$ to keep a possible problem. Good choice.
Ready for another 6 years.

weak batteries kill alternators. much cheaper to replace the battery in the long run.
