Title: Who do I buy my 170' T-STAT from? (looking to support small shops)
Post by: TopherSho on May 11, 2017, 03:48:20 PM
I'd like to go ahead and get a 170' t-stat despite me not wanting to mess with burping and swapping.  Who can I buy one from to support a small-shop online versus a big-shop online ?

Topher ...

I think ecopowerparts is the one I like since he custom makes parts and is open to most ideas

EcoPowerParts has the Reische 170. Good quality and highly recommended. Mike is a good guy too and easy to work with.

Will the instructions note how many ft-pounds to TQ the bolts.. or is it the old, ''hand tighten, then a couple twists of the socket'' like the old days ?

I would just hand tighten it and IIRC its roughly 20 ft-lbs of torque using a 8mm socket and would highly recommend letting the car sit overnight and performed on a cold engine for the least amount of coolant loss and have some extra coolant just in case things go sour. Z
Here is a great thread to give you some insight.

I posted pertinent service manual pages, which includes torques, in this thread (Reply #6): http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php/topic,7094.0.html

Make sure you put the thermostat in first, then the o-ring, then the housing. Pretty easy job. :)
