Title: AFR
Post by: DJE624 on September 11, 2013, 04:46:43 PM
I ran a little test yesterday with my Torque Pro.  I was monitoring the AFR.  On the tollway, at speeds of 70-80, RPMS at about 1700.  My AFR was reading in the 14-15 range.  From what I know, this seems a little lean.  Is this a reason for concern?  Car runs fine.  I just expected it to be a little closer to like 12.  Thanks for the feedback!  ;D

remember mine has no tune, but at normal driving, mine runs 14.4. now when i'm shifting myself it varies a lot but in auto mode this is where mine runs.

That is very normal at cruising speeds.  Log it or watch it under WOT load.   Then it will go down to 12.5 or less.

It's a DI car it will run very lean at part throttle cruise

at idle or at cruise you want it around 14.7.    if you're at that or higher at WOT, then you're asking for trouble.

It's Manifold Charge Temp... and can be logged on SCT - using LL 6.5.. Latest LL seems to not have it available.  When I run Methanol, I have seen it go below ambient temp.  It bottoms out at around 70 MPH on WOT strip runs and then goes up slightly due to engine heat, but ends below IAT starting temp.

Not really. Ideal AFR is 14.7:1 stoiceometric for gasoline.
Which is where it should be at idle and cruise.

When I lift, my car goes into open loop and displays an afr via torque of 29.4:1

It doesn't seem to do this in my neighborhood (25mph), but pretty much everywhere else.

I have Innovate A/F gauges in both my G8's, and I see crazy numbers like that when I let off also. The A/F numbers bounce all over the place unless I am doing WOT runs.. Normal situation.
