Title: EBPF Carbon Cold Air Intake Group Buy
Post by: MDesign Performance on March 04, 2016, 12:03:11 PM
(http://i67.tinypic.com/fo0mzo.jpg)

In honor of releasing our newest generation Carbon Cold Air Intake systems we are announcing a Group Buy to all of the EcoBoostPerformanceForum members at a special discounted price.

Our MDesign Performance Carbon Cold Air Intake systems use genuine carbon fiber and heat shielding, along with innovative engineering, to combat power-robbing heat soak and in turn create more performance. Our Carbon Cold Air Intake systems are 100% true cold air intake systems that are entirely sealed unlike exposed filter systems that are susceptible to power-robbing heat soak. Upon shipping out, each of our Carbon Cold Air Intake systems genuine carbon fiber components are hand waxed and buffed for a pleasant shine.

Each MDesign Performance Carbon Cold Air Intake includes a limited 3-year warranty to the original purchaser. You must retain the included serialized warranty card for all future warranty claims, more information may be found here (http://static1.squarespace.com/static/54f6026ee4b03940503b07f6/t/56d9ba35f850821330691a4c/1457109557249/Limited+Warranty.pdf).

The terms and conditions of the EBPF Group Buy are as followed:

The special discounted price will be $245 + shipping and handling. If all 20 spots are filled for the Group Buy, shipping and handling will be free. For those that have secured their spot in advance, the shipping and handling will be refunded if all 20 spots are filled.

Any and all questions, concerns, or comments may be directed directly to us via Private Messaging or at sales@mdesignperformance.com for a quick response.

We thank you and look forward to a successful group buy.

It would be helpful to list the changes made between Gen 1 and Gen 2.

This is for the current generation which includes orders from our last pre-order, near the end of Feburary. The main differences are slight changes to the carbon fiber heatshielding, mainly cosmetic changes, and the remainder of the kit is unchanged. Here below is a photo of the first batch of the latest generations that have went out as of this week right after the hand waxing and buffing prep of the carbon fiber components:

Here is a recent photo of the previous generation kit installed on a 2014 Taurus SHO, which all remains identical besides the cosmetic changes to the carbon fiber heatshielding:

There is some stuff floating around the forums, looks to make enough power to justify a purchase from cheap asses like me. I stopped pumping significant amounts of cash into parts that don't make power years ago and am glad I did. I remember my Acrua RSX, I did all kinds of work to it, only to take it to the track and lose a few tenths LOL. Tune was not in my vocab at that time, nor where there inexpensive options for tuning. I will likely join this list, lets get 20 and save the shipping!

That is correct, we have most of the dyno information located on our Facebook page, the quickest way to find them is to go trough the photos.

Here are a couple of threads of our intake up against K&N and AirRaid:

The fact of the matter is that the MDesign intake is sealed up to prevent heat soak is a big plus, not like other competitors which intakes are wide open and exposed to heat.  Z

Oh for sure. Hopefully I didn't make it sound like it was a mod that was not making power. Its the only intake that I am aware of that makes good gains. But back in the day when I was strapping all this stuff to an N/A 4 cyl and losing power, that sucked.

Oh not at all, just helping make the information easier to find for others to read! And that is true, you will see the most gains from a cold air intake on forced induction, supercharged and turbo'd vehicles.

I had made up my mind that I wasn't going to buy a cai. This must be what I was waiting for. Looks nothing like what is currently out there and power gains on dyno also. I  changed my mind I want one.Is there still openings on the list to get in on this group buy?

I was in the same boat, didn't feel the price for performance was there for CAI in general but I am a sucker for a group buy.

Am interested in group buy of CAI. But I have a dilemma if you can work with me. My transmission apparently going out. Car goes to dealership next week. If I get too much static about repairs, cost, rental cars etc, I may be selling car. If I don't sell the car, then I would be interested in the CAI. Time frame dealing with dealer on large scale repairs (at least my experience with Ford) has been just over 3 weeks. Is that something you can work with? And still honor group price til end of April?

A little harsh, don't you think?  Better to flood the vendor with petitions to reconsider.  Then it's their decision, for better or worse.

I believe MDesign has posted some comparisons.... Not sure if it's compared to stock. While tuning can make a difference, the stock intake appears to offer all the air the 3.5TT can use based on my comparison dynos comparing OEM filter and air box against the same car on the same day with the entire air box and intake removed... So the air intake went directly into the saxophone where the removed OEM was disconnected ( and removed). With stock tuning there was +/- 2-3 AWHP and TQ on multiple comparison runs using my car. Several users with Airaid and K&N have reported losing about .1sec in the quarter which they got back on the same day by reinstalling the OEM filter and box.

That said... The dyno shows no HP or TQ loss with the MDesign in my car... I had gen one, and now have gen two.  I love the appearance, the ability to check my tranny fluid without any R&R (OEM box must be removed to do this), the space it made for my future meth setup, and the increased boost sounds. The only change I recommend considering is using SS clamps instead of the supplied standard hose clamps... That was personal preference to match the clamps on my black hotpipes.
