Such a tease :)  Just remember we expect 3 products:  intake, exhaust, and engine cover!  So you have to re-arrange your priorities :P

So the MDesign intake has been on hold, the design on the boards has been scrapped and improved on. A simpler, direct bolt on and sealed system was designed instead. This required having parts custom made and is both time consuming and expensive. Some of you know that I am also a law student and my studies of course take priority. I'm happy to let you guys know though that I have started working extensively with carbon fiber. Not only was the intake on hold due to my studies, I've also been away from my vehicle for a month, and now that I have the car to work on again I've started on a carbon fiber engine cover.

I will post up pics and updates in here as working with carbon fiber is time consuming not only due to labor but also the drying times of all the chemicals used.

That looks great and do you put any type of insulation under or its not sufficient.

Lol I try ;). Unfortunately no exhaust, the intake has been redesigned (again) for the final time (hopefully) and is just a matter of getting one of the components manufactured in larger numbers.

Concerning the carbon fiber, along with the engine cover I plan to make a battery cover and also am looking to do some interior pieces as well. Here's another update on the engine cover:

It retains the OEM mounts and insulation

Patiently waiting for an intake that actually works without modification....

What happened the exhaust

It wasn't cost effective to manufacture and have them all handmade at the quality I would like to put my name on. Also after testing many setups I highly recommend just modifying the OEM cat + resonator by deleting them and replacing them with a free flowing aftermarket resonator. The stock mufflers do a great job at killing drone.

I would get with 4DR and see what he can make happen.  If you have CAD drawings and/or a sample you can send to him, even better.

Yes it was a hydrodip and SW had a horrible experience with them.

Actually that wasn't my guy...
I never used him to sell anything to you guys, I found a different guy who did good work BUT wouldn't get the SHO cover, he just wanted to use the regular one without the SHO emblem.

That's probably because to get a good carbon fiber weave design you're going to need to get rid of any non-flat surfaces or sharp edges, it's the same with this genuine carbon fiber cover. It does leave options for custom final lettering that can be applied and cleared over though.

It needs a couple more coats of resin and then clear but it's coming out nice :)

Just started clearing the cover, needs a couple stages of wet sanding and clear then buffing to a polish.

First step is to create a battery cover, anyone have any designs concepts in mind or currently have a battery cover to show off?

So as a first attempt I'm satisfied with the cover. I really underestimated the amount of work involved though as it took 3 weeks start to finish with all the coats and sanding. Pic below with a sneak peak of the MDesign Carbon Cold Air Intake.

Production of the engine cover might be limited, though the cold air intake is going to be available for pre-order in the coming week.

A thread will be made in the next couple of days, I just received the final piece from the manufacture and it looks great. Only change to the intake pic above is that the chrome piece will be made out of carbon fiber as well.
