They have switchbacks for the lower LEDs but you have to cut open the stock housing to install them.

What do you mean "upgrade"?  Change color, make them brighter?  I added LED strips on the headlamps for DRL's...but for that I would recommend using the same ones that bpd used for his lighting project...I believe they are brighter then mine and look better.

yea, to make the lower LEDs look brighter.
