Title: 1/8 Mile report, 10/10/13, LMS SCT stage 4 vs LMS Mycal 4+
Post by: SoCalSHO on October 12, 2013, 07:13:37 PM
So, I was at the track on Thursday night, TNT. Racing started at 5:00PM. D/A ranged from a high of 1029 at 4:47PM to 670 at 7:47PM. First 2 runs were with the LMS, stage 4 tune from the SCT, the rest were LMS stage 4+ using a mycal tune. When I complained before that my tunes seemed to be the same, meaning, no advantage with the 4+/Mycal, the complaint was dismissed, because the runs were not on the same day, although the D/A's were virtually identical.

LMS, Stage 4, SCT tune

4:56PM   #1
R/T    .389
60'     1.924
1/8    8.472
MPH   82.39

~5;10PM    #2
R/T     .165
60'     1.905
1/8    8.451
MPH    82.53

From here, i switched to the LMS Stage 4+ Mycal tune

5:39PM  #3
R/T   .485
60'    1.924
1/8    8.469
MPH   82.81

5:43PM   #4
R/T    .334
60'     1.909
1/8    8.440
MPH   83.07

Then I jump to race #8, with the best times
7:08PM
R/T   .525
60'    1.891
1/8   8.444
MPH  82.88

So, those were out of 9 runs. You can see run #1 was virtually identical to run #3. Run #3 should have had better times, since the D/A was probably lower (D/A @ 4:47 was 1029, and at 5:47 was @ 984). Run #2, which was closer in time to #3, was still better @ 60' and 1/8 mile, but not MPH.

So, you that are more experienced, it looks as though the stage 4+ is only going to get me a slightly higher MPH, but other than that, Nada. What do you think?

Although, I did beat a new Camaro SS and a CTS-V.

Those numbers are very interesting but before drawing any conclusions, I would think you should repeat this on a 1/4 mile track, I think you may see more of a difference in the 1/4 then in the 1/8.  I don't have anything to base this on, just a hunch, that you may see a difference.  I would at least try it, before making any conclusions.

You know, if I had a track that was in 3 hours drive, I would. You would think, where drag racing started, we would have a track. This is what I have available. I thought the same thing though.

Oh, this was also 3 gallons a gas, all crap out of the car (No spare or rear headrests), 2200RPM launch, front tires aired down to 30.

I was kinda thinkin' the same thing.  Another gear or two to ride out with the sustained boost.  Your 1/8s are pretty close to mine and I'm on 93 Octane.  I think with better DA's we will hit the 12s.  My dyno showed a real difference.  Not so much more at peak torque, but a big difference in sustaining it along the curve.

Interesting... I wonder how my 93 performance high boost thermostat tune would compare tune wise. The XSports tunes are not called by stages..
