Glad you brought this up...I meant with another SHO guy (bamsho) about getting an early start.  He would like to start working on getting a list together of people who are coming and we thought that getting several of the SHO/Taurus forums together for one club and getting a tent would work best on getting us an infield spot.  I know there has been some contact with Ford concerning the show, since next year is the 25th anniversary for the SHO.  I understand that Ford has not had much response to the inquiries...we were hoping that maybe someone with a Ford connection could help move this along.  Also we are dealing with next year being Mustang's 50th anniversary (although in my book it's not until 2015...since initial Mustangs were not called 64 1/2 but '65's)  Anyway, to have a club tent the cost is $175.00...not sure how to raise the money if people feel a tent would be a bonus.  I think it would be nice to have enough people commit and register for the show by the end of the year that we could then figure out what else we could do.  Also we do have information on motels/hotels if people are going to need that info.  But several people are involved in getting this rolling, and anyone that wants to help is welcome...but it's in the works to at least get us an infield spot for this show.

Mark I think this is close enough to my home turf to be really appealing. I've got a buddy who has a '13 SEL. I had him seriously lusting for a SHO but he kept getting sticker shock and settled for the less expensive model. I'm going to see if he'd like to drive out with me and check out the event.  Sounds like a great time!!  If we get a club tent, do we get to park together in a SHO area?

Larry, since as of now, that's the plan, but we are not going to be exclusively SHO, we are also planning on including Taurus/Sables from guys at Taurus Car Club of America, so we can be sure to have enough people to have an infield spot at the show...we would all be able to park together.  If you've never been to Carlisle it's an amazing event, it is worth the trip just to see it once, even if you don't care for it.  But it's even more fun when everyone can park in one spot and just spend some time together.

As we get a little more info together, I'll try to come up with some ideas, I think first thing is to get you guys the info on registering...I will talk with Brian(bamsho) this week, and post contact info within the next few days.  For those of you who are ready to commit...would you like to register individually under a club name or would you like someone to take care of registering...however, I'm not sure how paying would work...I know that as a club the people have to pay when they register.

I would like to be at the event 4 sure, but regardless, I will be happy to chip in for the club tent.  It is unfortunate that the 25th anniversary of the Taurus platform has come and gone, but we need to work on a backup plan (as a SHO community on here and SHOforum.com at least) in case Ford does not come through at all.  But I have to say that I feel that Ford will step up if they hear enough of a ruckus from us!

You are correct, the 25th anniversary of the SHO would have been in 2011...well, this should make getting things a bit easier.

I think the Taurus 25th (1986) was 2011 and the SHO 25th (1989) will be 2014. Right?

Dave you are correct, I was wrong...you are right on with your years. When I looked for it, the info I found said the SHO was introduced in 85 but I just did more checking and you are correct.

You need more then one day to see everything though...I did the deathmarch in a couple hours Saturday and I was beat the next day...and I missed the SHO's that where there!

Hi guys, sorry about get here late, here is the info for next years 2014 Carlisle.  Havent heard back from FORD, so will have to try to figure something out.  I have a design for a tshirt for the event I my head, just need to get in on paper.  This is from my friend Terri H, from SHOforum, she usually gets the tent, but got stuck one year, so hasn't gotten since.  She said contacts have changed at Carlisle, I'll let her work on it from her end there. I'll let everyone know if I here anything new.

Default 2014 Carlisle All-Ford Nationals TENT THREAD

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2014 Carlisle All-Ford Nationals TENT THREAD

This is the earliest Carlisle post in history!

Several people have discussed wanting to do something special for 2014 for the 25th anniversary. I'll leave those details to a separate thread.

The main thing to keep in mind is that early registration not only guarantees us a better spot on the SHOwfield, it ensures we have enough room for all participants to be together and with 25+ we get a free tent.

I've opened this now so it is here once folks start to register. Registration is available now but it is $49.50 (10% discount - until 5/5/14). In years past there has been an "early bird" registration in the fall, which is usually cheaper by $10 or more. (I think they push it as a Christmas present idea.)
**Whoever catches the "sale" first, please give this thread a bump.**

IMPORTANT: As you register, please be sure that you select LIBERTY SHO CLUB from the drop-down menu under Ford Club.

Once you complete your registration, please post the following information into this thread:

Order Number

we also need your forum name.

and real name.

Let's see how many registrations/posts we can get before New Year's Day!

Just pm your infomation when you register, so I can get a list started.  I will work on contacting Carlisle people about next year when this seasons of shows ends, and give FORD another shout.  I  mean come on they did something for Merkur cars they should do something for us.  Any of you good and tshirt design, I have on in my head, but cant draw for crap.

Could we use the logo from here http://store.carlisleevents.com/v/vspfiles/photos/categories/Ford_Lg.jpg (http://store.carlisleevents.com/v/vspfiles/photos/categories/Ford_Lg.jpg)  and link it to the event page here http://store.carlisleevents.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=24 (http://store.carlisleevents.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=24)?  Since this is for the purpose of purchasing from Carlisle events, we should be ok with copyright?  Otherwise, I will work on a logo/banner.

EDIT:  Updated store URL

I can ask them next week, the store link didn't work however. If you want to inquire with them if they are OK with us advertising for them on our site that would be awesome.
:)
In the mean time I can make this a Featured Topic.

So reading through this, are there potentially two groups; Ecoboost Performance Forum and Liberty SHO Club?  Or is everyone (regardless of vehicle) going under the Liberty SHO Club?

I will probably make it out, Carlisle is always a good time and its a nice drive from New Hampshire.

Argh.  I should have space between the store link and the question mark :(  Ok, I will check in with them on Monday and post up here.  Thanks, Mike!

We should definitely get a headcount (commitment) of how many are going to make it out to Carlisle, maybe set up a poll first?  Since the Ecoboost platform has hugely expanded the umbrella :)  I don't know if we can get more than 1 tent next to each other, carve out our own gathering at Carlisle.

We were all going to go under the Liberty SHO Club, so that we can keep the headcount up and we had earlier decided it would be cool to keep all the SHO's together regardless of generation.

Let me ad, it would be nice to have an Ecoboost Performance Forum banner to put up and that way we could all kinda gather in the same area...as far as I know everyone would be welcome: SHO's, MKS's, Flex's, F-150's, Focus, and Fusion...be great to have a nice turnout.

The banner would be a nice touch, but as for all gathering in the same area, that's up to Carlisle officals.  The trucks/suvs area in there own separate area in the show area.  If we get the turn out, I'm hoping for we will have a better area in the showfield and will be away from the Foci, Fusions.

Let's see what you can arrange with the organizers and what they'll let us do. If you can arrange a true area for the members then I'll pick one up for you guys (I may or may not be able to go). If not I'll make sure you guys have cards and stickers to hand out.

I thought it was all settled that we were all going to register under Liberty SHO Club, that way we can group all the SHO's together, since a lot of us all also members of Taurus Car Club of America, also we can meet the 25 car requirement.  I assumed that most of us new gen guys would try to park together, but we wanted to welcome all generations and if we do get a Ecoboost Performance Banner, then the non-SHO guys could also park with us....

I hadn't heard any yea's or nay's, Mark, hence my ?.  I am most agreeable to your arrangement, that is the best way to include everyone.  Now waiting for that $10 discount to show up :)  As far as the banner(s) are concerned, do you think we should do separate banners or a combined banner with mentions of all participating clubs?  Size limits/costs?

Oh no problem, as far as banners go, my first thought is that we should have an individual banner. If we have an Ecoboost Performance Banner, and some one needs it for an event we could ship it to whoever can use it.  I think size wise we should keep it reasonable. (And I'm just throwing this size out for discussion) probably in the neighborhood of 2' x 7'.  Cost...Mike (4DR) said something about having it made, and if he is still planning on doing that, I really think the design on the banner and cost should be up to him.  My only input would be get a banner that will last a few seasons...it would be a shame to get one made that falls apart within one or two uses. Lastly, if each club has it's own banner, they would be able to use it at any other events and I just think it would make the banners more flexible for the clubs.

So I've confirmed over this past weekend, that my 2014 family vacation plans, which will bring us to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for 7 nights, 8 days WILL NOT conflict with the dates proposed for the Nationals.

As such, I would like to know if any of you have thought about actual arrival times AHEAD of the scheduled event dates, and what, if anything, some of you have considered as far as travel time(s) etc.?

I would like to pencil in some type of pre-event arrangements, and may be interested in helping coordinate a caravan/convoy of Chicagoland and/or MidWest folks.....

I'm also thinking that I may NOT want to place all the extra miles back/forth on my SHO, & may, I stress MAY, try to finagle some type of trailer for my beast. But that'd be an added expense on top of what would already be gas, hotels, food, entertainment, etc.

Just sent a message to Event planning at Carlisle for 2014 FORD Nationals.  I asked them if they have heard anything from FORD if they are planning to do anything for the 25th anniv of the Taurus SHO.  I told them people are planning vacations for next yr.  So hopefully will here something back from them this week.  Sorry this has been on the back burner right now, working on getting rear axle replaced in Expedition  :banghead:

Anyone have any recommendations for lodging at/near Carlisle?  A quick search on hotels.com shows a Days Inn at $76/night right now, most are at/above $100/night.  Of course, POSSIBLY cheaper rates could be had closer to event time.  Enough interest to get a block of rooms?

I am about 65-75 minutes from Carlisle, and if you guys want me to check on rooms in my area, I can do that. I don't think you will find cheaper rates closer to the event, as these motels are normally booked from year to year, much like the Reading area the week of the NHRA National Event held the past weekend.  But I am far enough away that are motels do not upcharge this weekend, and it's still not to far to drive to the event.  I also am willing to check out motels that are closer to Carlisle, but as you get closer, most of them are aware of the Carlisle event schedule and price accordingly.  I'm willing to do leg work if anyone wants me to check out anything, just let me know...

Well got a reply back from Carlisle, well its bad and but little bright spot.  Here is there reply.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for contacting us.  We have been in many talks with Ford regarding the 2014 and 2015 Events in recent weeks.  No talks have really come up about them pushing an SHO Agenda here as the 50 Years of Mustang will be the primary agenda they are pushing at major events.  We will be putting together a 50 Years of Mustang Display as well as a 110 Years of Ford Motor Company display along with a Womens Invitational.  Not sure if there is interest from the SHO community in doing maybe a Tent or Display celebration on their portion of the field but we are open to that if they are interested.  Any questions please let me know.

Best Regards,

Just a quick update from me, I just contacted a friend who is the Sales Manager at the Best Western here in Lewisburg about motel rooms in Lewisburg for this event, but I  haven't heard back from him.  Again, it's probably about a 70 minute drive to the Carlisle event, but hopefully the rooms will be more reasonably priced because I'm sure most of the Carlisle area will be unavailable or very pricey. Will post more info as I receive it. I am getting housing info together now. I also will contact another motel about 12 miles closer then Lewisburg to the event, just so you guys will have the info.

Certainly a dilemma.  Can we get enough space on the field to share with the Ford official displays?  Do we want to splinter SHOs from the rest of the Ecoboost performance community?  If we get our own tent & display, we can showcase the non-pony performance aspect of Ford's history.  Certainly there's something for everyone under the blue oval umbrella.

As it stands now we are reserving under Liberty SHO club (as far as I know) and this includes all generations of the SHO, Taurus, and other Ecoboost vehicles.  My thoughts is that we will split into our various groups in our display area, and I know Mike said that we will be getting a banner.  If Ford doesn't acknowledge the SHO, so be it. I think it will still be a nice event and a chance to meet others from the SHO, Taurus, Ecoboost area.  Besides, this way it will be easier to get a tent at no cost and get to the required minimum participants.

The tent location will depend on how many preregister.  If we get alot and everyone lets me know, I'll get back ahold of  Ken at Carlisle see if we can get prime location on the show field.  I'm venting some here so bare with me.  I'm little mad, they did something for the freakin pinto and merkur cars really, they were FORD worse POS ever made.  Maybe if the almighty's at FORD went to some of the forums, they would see that we are interested in next yr.  Well what should I expect, you don't see and ads for the Taurus or Flex on tv, we are the ugly step child I guess.  Sorry about the rant.  I don't know about drag strip down in that area, but if alot of you guys stay near Lewisburg, we could go to Friday Night Drags at BeaverSprings dragway and have some fun.

I hope it will work for the car nationals, as the link came from the truck nationals.  If nothing else, maybe buying over the phone may net the max discount.

**Update 11/25/13**

I have confirmed that I will be staying on the same (night) shift for 2014.

As such, vacation picks must be submitted by 12/15/13 (for next year).

I am working out the logistics with the Wife, as it pertains to our own family vacation plans, and what days I have available to utilize outside of those, so that I can attend this event.

Looking ahead, I am scheduled to work that entire weekend (of the Nationals).

However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing mind you, because according to Google Maps, it's a solid, 10hr drive from my starting point, to the event grounds.

Not terrible by any means, and certainly doable.

It also appears (looking back throughout this thread) that the initial dates listed, are incorrect.

As of today, visiting the Official Web Site, the Official Event Dates are as follows:

Friday June 6th, 2014
Saturday June 7th, 2014
Sunday June 8th, 2014

So, chances are looking better for me to attend I guess is all I'm saying.

Hope others are still considering, and/or planning accordingly.

Thanks!  :thankyou:

Ha! You guys may get a laugh out of this.....

I just asked my Mother, since her and her new husband own three cars amongst the two of them, if my lovely (*ahem*) Wife can borrow one of their cars for the weekend the Ford Nationals are slated to be held.

Mom says "Sure, why? What do you have going on?"

So I explain the whole thing about the Ford Nationals, and how I don't really desire to put 1,300+ miles on my SHO, and that I would prefer to trailer it (my SHO) back/forth, to/from the event.....

Mom says "cool, no problem at all".

So I inform the Wife today, that among the various dates I'll be selecting for my 2014 Vacation Schedule, is the three days this event is being held in June.

That irk'd her to begin with, but then when I quipped "oh yea, and btw, I'll be using your truck to load my car onto a trailer, and trailer the SHO there and back".

Wife's like "Whoa, hold up! What? Huh? You wanna do what?"

So that sends her slightly over the edge, with her beginning to rant and rave "It's a God Damn car, you can drive (YOUR) car there (and back).... absolutely ridiculous" and blah blah blah and yaddie yaddie yaddie yah yah.....

I just laughed and walked away saying "I love you honey".

:rofl2:  :laughing1:

Oh man Mike, that sounds exactly like the response I get from both wife and son...which upsets me to no end since son (at least) is a car guy and likes the SHO.

Well..... submitted my Official Vacation / Time Off Request(s) for 2014....

A portion of which, included the entire weekend this event is being held.

Google Maps shows an approximate 10hr drive for me, therefore, I may end up leaving at some ungodly hour of the morning (overnight) Thursday, to arrive there sometime on Friday.

Or I might head out Wednesday. Don't really know yet.

I guess it depends on when vehicle entrants are required to "roll-in" prior to the grounds being opened for the general public and/or spectators.

So if any others are sitting on the fence about this, please get off of it, pipe up about your attendance, as i'm sure it will help foster others to do the same.

Most of the motels will probably already be booked.  You may be able to get a room cheaper in my area, I am going to look into some pricing within a few weeks for those dates.  Only downfall is that it's a little over an hour drive to Carlisle from my house, however, I do it each day of the show, and it's not bad.  Once I find some pricing, I will pass it on.  I did talk to a friend at Best Western in Lewisburg, and he quoted $125.00 a night, but that's in Lewisburg...also said he may be able to do better, but with Bucknell University and the US Pen in Lewisburg, pricing is normally higher.
Title: **Update 12/03/13**
Post by: bpd1151 on December 03, 2013, 03:44:10 AM
My attendance is CONFIRMED.

I will be trailering my SHO to this event from my home base in the S/W Suburb's of Chicago. Looks to be an approximate 10hr drive.

I've booked a hotel in Mechanicsburg, PA. which is approximately 20min away from the show grounds / fields.

I will pre-register in January, after the Holidays (and their related expenses) come to pass.

So I'm get'n kind of excited now, even though this event is 6mo.'s out as of now.

Now that my upgraded turbo's have been installed, and my custom hard pipes are due to ship out this week, I'm hoping to get out to Livernois Motorsports sometime in January (2014) for a newly revised dyno tune.

Aiming for low to mid 500's at the wheels.

The staff over at LMS and I have discussed other upgrades (which I won't go into great details.... yet) but suffice to say, those will come as mod money allows.

In the interim, anyone looking for my most recently compiled mod list (as of Oct. 2013) feel free to check out the lengthy list here:

http://www.hkmediachicago.com/sponsored-and-business-affiliates.html (http://www.hkmediachicago.com/sponsored-and-business-affiliates.html)

I hope to see others taking the time out to plan for this MAJOR, NATIONWIDE, FORD SPONSORED, event....

It'd be nice to meet up, spend some time together, etc. etc not to mention having a relatively decent turn out of any/all Ford Manufactured Vehicles, including lot's of fellow Ecobooster's!

Now, just throwing this out there for Friday night after the grounds close for the night.  Is anyone want to go "play", to  drag strip.  I know there is a little 1/8 mile place somewhere down there, or do you guys want to drive up to Beaver Springs up our way to a 1/4 mile track,  Friday night drags there are pretty interesting some nights.  Up to you guys.

Finally looked at emails this week.  Got this one from Carlisle about FORD national.  Look at the club piece.  Libtery SHO Club has never been offical registered.  Never knew they had them.  What are you thoughts on it.  Its earlier enough to do.

I think we need to decide what name to register under, so we all register under one name so we get a club space and everyone knows what name to use for the club. Don't care what name we register as, just so we have one, because I plan on registering in mid-January.

It is starting to sound like that will be the case.

Me personally, I could care less who I register with, or under what club name.....

It may be of benefit though so that the event organizers can group us together however. Besides winning any club prize or what have you.

I think most members from other forum communities are planning to do so (under the Liberty banner).

I won't be registering until after Christmas myself. Likely in January sometime.

I have no desire to get placed in the proverbial dog house by the Mrs., for outlaying what she would say is "unnecessary" expenditures.

Lol.

National SHO Convention attendees have been criss crossing the Country for years logging hours like that .....

Special, once a year events like these require a bit of pre-planning, along with a bit of craziness mixed in!

Guys I really want to go to this event.  The main reason to meet you all, see your vehicles and see what all mods you have done.  I am curious as to how many have committed to going already?  I see the event is June 6th thru 8th which is right around my birthday. Great timing for me!!  Is there a way to create a running list to see who all has committed by signing up and who all is pending?  Personally I would like it if we were grouped together so we could hang out.

Arriving Thursday afternoon, departing Monday late morning.

I believe across the forums, guys/gals are registering under the club of: "Liberty SHO Club".

No suggestions really.

I booked a hotel in Mechanicsburg, which is approx 20min from the event grounds.

I would say that anyone booking anywhere, will encounter difficulty in finding availability of open rooms.

When I booked back in November, almost every hotel in Carlisle was booked solid.

That was 7 mo.'s in advance!

So yes, better to call sooner than later. From what I understand, there were over 2k vehicle entries last year.

So to say this is literally a MAJOR EVENT would be stating it mildly.

I am going, planning on registering within the next few days, would like to take advantage of the discount. I am fairly sure that I will be staying at home, since it's only about 75 minutes from the show. As Mike said, you should look for a room now, almost everything around is booked up to a year in advance. If you can't find anything close to the show, I do know of some places closer to my house, but it will mean about an hour drive.

Hi all -
So are we getting a tent? I know there was some discussion, but, not sure if anyone made a decision. I know there is extra cost involved with having a tent, but, count me in if we want to pool our money for one.

We have to get a certain number of registrants under the Liberty SHO banner to get the tent (?).  Not sure how many there are right now.  I am also more than happy to contribute to the pool also.

Let me update you on what I know.  Also maybe Bamsho will have a little more info.  I believe that there is roughly 30 of us between us and TCCA. So I believe we will get a tent as I think we will be together on the infield.  Also one of the guys at TCCA is collecting 20 bucks from everyone going...this will get you a T-shirt (not sure of the design), nametag, and there will also be prizes given away.  However, you have to let him know your shirt size.  There is a thread over at TCCA, and Taurus Daily Driver is taking the collection...you can contact him or read the thread for more info.  I would still like to see us have an Ecoboost Performance Forum banner to put up...
Lastly, I am planning on bringing all my detailing supplies so if anyone wants to use them, they will be welcome to use my Adam's stuff.  If we don't have access to electric, I am considering bringing a generator, so we can use my PC for detailing...I probably won't bring the generator on the first day, but will bring it along the following day.  I just can't remember if there is access to electric or not on the infield.

Once Mike has the new logo completedwe could have a banner made.  It would have use beyond Carlisle 2014.  If someone wants to start a fund we could all Paypal $5 or $10... and the collection could start now.  If even 100 folks donated (I will) that's plenty to get the banner made.

That was my thought, I believe Mike offered to pick up the cost to have the banner made.  Then it could be used for any event where out members are attending. I'm thinking that it would be better if members would pick up the cost of shipping the banner to where it is needed.  Shipping can get to be expensive quickly, especially if the banner needs to be shipped a bunch of times.  But I also thought that it would be best until the new logo is finished.

I have a connection with a local college that offers a printing program.

For the 24" tall by whatever width you choose, the price is $5 per square foot. This is for a white vinyl banner with whatever full-color graphic you provide and the price includes the metal mounting rings in the corners. The graphic needs to be high resolution and they prefer to work with pdf format. Banners for outside organizations are not produced by the students, but instead by one of the staff members.

Price examples ($5 per square foot):

2'x5' - $50
2'x6' - $60
2'x10' - $100
etc.

No, actually the whole Carlisle subject has been quiet lately. Other than Mike (bpd) and I both received a letter from Carlisle listing events, and what was required to get a tent.  If anyone wants to see it, just shoot me and e-mail address or let me know and I will copy it and PM to you.  It's too long to post here.
But I sure hope we can get a banner, it would be a shame to miss this opportunity to promote both Mike's business and the forum.

Sorry for the delay in this.  I had to change up the tshirt design, but still looks good.  For 30 shirts is $10.00 per. That is a 50/50 blend or do you guys prefer 100% cotton?  That is also medium blue with white or silver printing.  Will have logo on the front even though pic here doesn't show it. Yes there are two pics, jus how he sent them to me.  Will have  correct one for the printer.

Price for 100% cotton is $11.00.  I will be placing the order May 12,  I will need shirt sizes by then.  I'm going with 10LG, 15XL, 5MD.  They have a 12 business day turn around.  This will give them plenty of time to get them done.  PM me your sizes, and I will PM everyone how to pay.

This is the Carlisle Events link  according to this gate hours are 7-7 Thursday-Saturday 7-3 Sunday.  According the link gates open Thursday but if you want show field there could be admission charge for the driver but not the vehicle.   As for Sunday most vehicles start rolling out about late morning to avoid the rush.   Speaking of rush,  be patient that weekend and allow plenty of time for everything.

I'm just going for the day on Saturday...

After you get done registering your car, you will just have to pay regular admission for the other people in your party. I think its like $10 a person or close to that.

Not sure.  I'm going to pay for the tent so we have one.  If we get enough that sign in after I'll get my money back.   SO if anyone from here is planning to show up friday or saturday please use Liberty SHO Club as the club name.  Thanks.  I think we are behind the washing area, that's where the TCCA tent is and im sure we are near there too.  Looks like we arean't going to be on the freakin hill.  Just got a call the shirts are done,  YEAH, on less thing to worry about.

We are grouped with TCCA, we told Carlisle that it was OK to put us together as one group, so that's the only way TCCA had enough to get a tent, it is us and them since most of us our members there as well as here...please don't pay for another tent, not necessary.
