SCT tuners

Are there any pros or cons or additional features between the different tuners from SCT. X4, bdx, gtx, livewire, etc? Is the price difference worth it if so? What do you use and how do you like it?

I have a LiveWire TS+ in my SHO and I love the damn thing.  Real time information across numerous PIDS with the ability to set alarms.  Full touch screen.  Worth every penny.


I have a X4 for the Focus.  It stays in my glovebox because my ST is my daily. I don't need the realtime info because my ST isn't beat on (unlike the SHO) and spends 80% of its driving life on the freeway.  Everything I need to see is already at a glance with the factory gauges....unlike the damn SHO.

Both are great for what they do.

That's what I'm considering upgrading to. I currently have the X4 but I use a laptop for actually displaying gauges and datalogging. The X4 feels like it could've been the original gameboy. I appreciate the screenshot as well. It's surprisingly hard to find information on these types of things.

Between customization and features the LiveWire is the route to go.  You get what you pay for.  I still use my laptop to datalog with it too. 

I really like the x4 too honestly.  It is stupid simple, stupid easy to use, and program with.  However, both devices are perfect for their individual applications in my case.

The Livewire is a big upgrade if you want the realtime data staring you in the face.

I love my Livewire as well.

SMK whats these alarms you mention?  I did not catch that when I bought mine.

Going into the individual PID and you can set the high and low ranges.  Next time I drive the car I will snap a pic.

I have a LiveWire TS+ but I only use it to datalog and upload tune revisions.  I don't really like it on the dash or the wire in the way.
2013 Lincoln MKS ecoboost, 70,000 miles.  3 bar map 93 tune (E30 in the future) by both AJP Turbo and Ortiz Performance.  PPE catted down pipes, EPP dual CAI (not yet installed so K&N drop in), .026 gapped SP542, 170 degree thermostat, Dynomax axlebacks, and Power Stop Z23 pads and rotors.

That is why mine is mounted in the upper corner of my windshield. The wire is completely hidden in the A pillar, a run down behind the panels, over the pedals and into the OBD. It is slightly above my eye sight, and I can use my visor still to block out the sun.

sounds perfect. i'm going to check into trading mine in towards a livewire purchase i think.

SMK can you take a pic of the obdII layout? did you remove the A pillar to tuck the wire in ?

Then I removed the "Taurus" kick plate, and which gives you access to remove the actual kick panel next to your left leg that protects all the wires.  I stuffed the excess cord in there.  I ran the obd connector in front of the e-brake and over the dash support and then down to the plug.  It is really easy and literally took me 3 mins start to finish.

Yeah sneaking the cord and tucking it way is the easy part, the wire is heavy an a little stiff, plus the a pillar cover curves back in a way that lets you push the wire back there and it stays.  I jut ran mine down seam between door and dash and it has stayed put with no other help.  I tried the up high mounting and did not like it, so mine is mounted down low left.

My windshield has a very dark tint banner that protects the LiveWire from direct sunlight and keeps it out of view.  I don't have a problem with it being too bright, because I have it turn all the way down.  It is perfect for me to keep my eyes on the road and monitor all the critical systems when I am giving her the business.

Next question would be, better to trade the X4 in or sell it outright?
