ugh. under super light load I gear metal grinding, when decelerating without braking I hear grinding. under moderate load I do not hear grinding. It is coming from under the engine bay .. whats weird is it sound like it is on the right more than the left side.
Do these things have u-joints of some sort ?
sigh ..
taking it in tomorrow ..
most likely PTU, hoping for brakes tho.
They do have u-joints but they're not serviceable.
The entire driveshaft has to be replaced.
Unfortunately I think shodded is right. Sounds like PTU.

yeah I am prepared for it. The warranty people are going to cry ..
Once in a while, it is ok to cry. LOL.
I was going to say the same as the experts above, sounds like ptu no more.
Just heard back, there is a TSB on calipers apparently and they need replaced.. Good news.. i'll take it!
.. OFFS! My warranty does not cover brake work ... 860$ ... S#^T. I'd rather it be the ptu they'd cover that ..
/facepalm/

all of it... rotors, pads were old and low, calipers and assorted parts for full replacements on all of them ..
Got a number for the tsb?
I was not aware of caliper issue for the 2010's
I would make damn sure that's the problem before I hand over that kind of cash.
You can do ebc all around with calipers on the front for less than that

New Calipers, rotors, and pads on all four corners?
If there's a TSB, they eat the cost on calipers. I'd buy pads and rotors separate and either have them put them on or do it yourself.

FRONT BRAKES - INTERMITTENT GRUNT OR GRINDING NOISE
Thx SHOdded, hopefully the dealer isn't try to sell him something he doesn't need.
I was aware of the "grunt" tsb but his problem does really match the description. I really hate when dealers just try to throw parts at problems and hope it fixes it.

I agree, and Topher has really been getting hit with that pretty baddly in the last 12mos IMHO.
LOL if it was only a weird noise.. i would have dealt with it later. it TRULY sounded like the PTU. I was ready for it...
It was a horrible grinding noise .. :P
Now I wish it was the damned ptu .. i'm getting the whole brake assembly mess.. to be honest the rotors are pretty rough. they are oem and have some good grooves in them that i knew would be a issue later. add to that i'm not good at wrenching and brakes are one of the few things i wont mess with myself.
i make to many mistakes and my daughter rides in my car for me to mess with brakes .. /nope!/ it sucks.. but again i am hard on cars so this is par for the course.
Lifetime brakes. SMH.
Now i get to buy tires too ... :P wife is going to LOVE me this month. but i am excited to get my Conti DSW 06's
Pamper Pamper Pamper the S.O. to prevent being S.O.L.
Loop closed. rotors, pads, calipers and some sort of of a pile of screws washers and crap. it is fixed. too bad i cant drive it.. (new thread)
