EPA SAYS VEHICLE EMISSIONS STANDARDS ARE TOO HIGH!
EPA says greenhouse gas standards for 2022-2025 vehicles are too high to realistically meet.

APRIL 2, 2018 — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says it's time to lower current greenhouse gas standards for model year 2022-2025 vehicles because current standards are allegedly based on outdated information that is too stringent.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt says low-income consumers are literally unable to purchase new cars and the growth of electric vehicles has been below previous estimates.

The agency made a January 2017 determination that at the time showed trends and data for 2012-2015 vehicles where it looked like major automakers were "over-complying" with their requirements and building up credits.

The EPA now says the latest data shows that starting with model year 2016 vehicles, many companies for the first time had to rely on credits in order to comply with the program. In addition, the agency believes this will happen again for 2017 models.  Z

FORD EMISSIONS INVESTIGATION OPENED AFTER EMPLOYEES SPEAK UP
Ford emissions investigation will determine if emissions and fuel economy estimates are wrong. Z   :hmmm:

FEBRUARY 21, 2019 — A Ford emissions investigation has been opened to test the 2019 Ford Ranger and other vehicles after a group of Ford employees reported possible problems in September 2018.

The outside firm will investigate the vehicle road load specifications Ford uses during emissions and gas mileage tests to certify vehicles for sale in the U.S.

Ford describes road load as the resistance levels used during tests on a dynamometer for fuel economy ratings and to certify the levels of emissions.

In addition to the outside company, Ford says the investigation will include independent experts to conduct specific tests and to evaluate potential changes to the modeling process Ford uses.

The investigation will also include technical and government components of the testing process, but Ford says any potential concerns don't include the use of emissions "defeat devices.
