I agree with Jordan. I personally would change the PTU and RDU fluids with Redline Lightweight ShockProof Fluid ASAP regardless of year.

Now I'm a little surprised you didn't add lowering springs to your list, aren't they good for a couple tenths or at least one, with launching and such?

FWIW before I did anything it was window tint and lowering springs!

Personally I don't think lowering springs deserve a spot. Problem is people don't keep up with maintaining their suspension so spring slapping won't do anything. I would put it under general maintenance with struts and what not but without more real data on how lowering springs effect the sway of the cars on launch I'm going to say unnecessary but not to be over looked.

Don't lowering springs yield to overall better 60' times! I think they play an important role in aerodynamics. Z

Need some actual data on it on a test car before I'd make that assumption. Plenty of stock suspension people in the 1.7X sixty foots that I have seen so it's up in the air. Usually with the benefit of springs it's because of the backwards sway they dampen on launching so their isn't as much weight transfer off the front end. However, if someone has some crappy blown struts it's also going to effect the sixty negatively. Just like the MSD are an honorable mention and not a necessity despite proven power gains it's a "at the will of the person" type mod to me and not a game changer like the others above.

I would also take in to account of a "better" performance tire. Personal choice should dictate what tires your should put on the car.

From personal experience with another SHO owner. He has a 17 GH tuned non PP SHO. I let him drive my SHO and the first thing he asked was, "What tires are on your SHO?" I have the Conti Extreme Contact, and he said they were way better then the stock tires that came on his SHO.

You can have all the power, suspension, ect, but what counts most is where the rubber meets the road.

The lowering springs should help the aerodynamics aspect since the SHO stance is high up from the factory. Agreed on providing actual data which is essential to any such mod.
Be well and stay safe. Z

Yes lowering springs DO help in lowering 60fts.  Track photographer got a great photo of my car launching.  It showed the front struts at FULL extension, and the rears coils fully compressed, which inturn caused the front tires to loose traction for a split second.  When I bracket raced, my 60fts where high 1.9s due to how I had to stage too.  After putting on the H&Rs, and staging the same way, my 60fts dropped to mid 1.8s.

Coilovers are even better, due to there adjustability.  Esp for changing track conditions.

Very true there Brian.

Anyone who's been around this platform for a minute, knows full well that lowering springs alone, are a definitive performance upgrade.

The addition of which helps TREMENDOUSLY in preventing front to rear weight transfer, which in turn, helps mitigate loss of traction in/on the front axle primarily.

Coil overs are even better, but the lowering springs alone are tremendously beneficial.

Absolutely add them to the mod list. At a minimum.

I found the pics that the track photographer took.  Just to show how much these car lift in the front.

Do you have the updated mounts installed yet, Brian?

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

The amount of stock suspension cars that have gone 1.7 sixty foot is too many for me to agree that springs make a huge difference. There is a few things why I'm not interested in adding them and here's why:

1)Like @SM105K said tires make a huge difference in the launching capability of the cars

2) worn suspension components causing extra sway

3) no trans mounts allowing the extra weight transfer and physical movement of the drivetrain

Like I said before they aren't to be over looked but I don't think they deserve a spot just like the msd coils despite giving an improvement. I just don't think that improvement is significant enough in comparison to the others. If I were to add every little thing that I know gives improvements over the big stepping stones type of mods I'd have a hefty list.
