Contact Walter Chen at Megan Racing to set up a time. They need a vehicle for a few hours at least, but they're interested in making a set. I'm hoping the SHO and Explorer Sport suspension are the same but doubting it due to ride height.

Why can't anyone be within a state of me?
I'm about 35 miles from there but my esport is a 2014, are they *only* looking for the 2013?

2013/14 is the same and is fine.
OK, Email sent to Walter, December is the busy season for my business (distribution and Operating Room support of Internal Spinal Fixation) but I have some time after noon today and maybe tomorrow :x:
Sent an email as well if anyone can not make it.
No response from Megan in the first 24 hours ???
I got a response they would contact me after the holidays
I guess they liked your email story better than mine, I didn't get a response from them. At least they have a car to work with :) I had planned to do H&R springs but maybe I could wait for the coilover kit
HOT Damn !
Ill be the first on the list when its ready for sale .....
To bad CA is so far from OK
Man that would be so awesome if they get these made. If i wasn't in La. i'd go drop off mine. It sits in the garage 5 days a week anyway.
Another dumb question..
What is the difference from the coilovers and the hr springs...

The stock shocks work OK at stock height but when you lower them with the stiffer H&R after awhile they're not happy. The adjustability of the Megan coilovers while lowered makes the ride awesome as compared to stock shocks with lowering springs.
Ok then...
Another thing for my Xmas list... Lol

Going price is around $850 shipped, I offer them a bit lower than that but can't break MAP rules.
Not only do they offer more adjustablity in ride control (firmness) they will be much more adjustable for ride height ......AND they are not as wide when compared to stock struts ... this will allow for wider wheels and tires .......
Will keep you posted if they call me. Likewise for Quicksilver or whomever takes their car to Megan.
Well if Megan makes a set for the XSport, I will be interested in getting some details.
Thx guys
This is what Megan Coilovers look like installed ( on my Flex).

The threading allows a great deal of height adjustment. On the top of each shock is a knob that allows 32 different settings of dampening from street to track.
Sounds like a great way to increase ride comfort.
I hope they develop a set for the XSport....
Thx
Bob are the Coilovers lighter as well
I didn't weigh them, but even though they aren't light, they definitely weigh less than the stock front struts and rear shocks/springs. However, the ones I had on both were H & R springs... they aren't light, but work great and are definitely cheaper to buy and to install than Megan Coilovers.
My Flex H & R springs are for sale, but have to dis-mount them, hopefully to take to Iowa for possible sale and Ship.
I've got cash burning a hole in my pocket for a set of these on the esport. Also i weighed my sport yesterday just to see how heavy it was. Empty other than junk from my kids, baby seat, tabs, dvds etc....maybe an extra 45lbs total it came in at 5000lbs. How much do the SHO and Flex weigh?
The scale i went to does not give you exact numbers like 4989...it's a basic round up or down system but will put you within 50lbs.
My SHO says 4450lb. I think I'l go weigh it at my local gravel dealer since you bring it up.
My Flex weighed 5100 with me in it at the track.
I don't want to start any trouble.... But I'm just curious on everyone's opinion.
I mentioned Megan racing coilovers to a friend that is really big into the car scene and he told me they have a really bad rep for quality and that their products are all junk...
I didn't have time to get into it with him so I don't know if he just had a bad experience or what?

People tell me the same about my Ford vehicle. Neverthrless, I've heard the same from the import car crowd. I'll wait to pass judgment.
Yeah, I was curious if anyone here has been running them and their opinion?
4DR and EB both have them.
I've read here and there that they can cure the wheel-hop so many of us get as well with the proper adjustments.
First-SHO and Darrelli have them as well if I remember right.
Has anyone had any contact with Megan about the 2013+ coilovers that will be for sale soon hopefully ?? . I believe at least one of the members on this thread said Megan would get with them at least by the end of this Holiday season ........
I dont want these coilovers ..... I must have and need them !!

has anyone gotten back or heard from Walter yet ?
Sent an email the day 4dr asked us to but they never contacted me... I wonder if they think demand would be too low?? DC they contacted you one time right?
Nothing. Sent email again to Megan but no response.
Maybe 4DRHTRD could try to contact them again .... If enough off us are willing to put a deposit down maybe Megan would get serious .....
Considering all they need to do is redo the front struts a little bit with a new mounting format, I'm shocked this hasn't been done yet. The rear could be left completely the same, and the front just needs the mounts changed, while much of the rest remains the same. I know this because we took pics of each strut (remember those threads?) and found there are very few differences that matter, other than the bottom mounting points of course.
I wish I was very wealthy, because I'd put some R&D time down with a custom coilover maker and have coilovers for the whole lineup by now and recoup the cost with variants for Explorer, Taurus, Flex, and whatever other cars are based of the platform.
It probably all comes down to overall lack of demand for this product. How many people out there are actually modifying their Explorer Sports?
I doubt it has anything to do with demand, how much demand is there for coil overs for the flex? Its probably more about timing and willingness to make it happen, as they more than likely have the parts to mount 2013's and above. The big question is which ones are they? Cause more than likely everything else is exactly the same except where it bolts to steering knuckle, and many cars mount there struts in same fashion. Even more so than the other way.

Or it could be that they learned their lesson from the Flex that any R+D will not provide payback over the number of limited sales.
No interest among owners without EB engines in their Taurus/Flex/F150/Escape/Edge/Fusion etc? I know from the Edge forum there is interest in having an upgraded suspension, as we are currently pretty much limited to springs and air systems right now, not even a swaybar (anymore)!
While that is a possibility, I kinda doubt it. As all struts a virtually the same. It the length and how they mount is what makes the different. And for most cars they only mount two ways, and beauty of coil overs they are truly universal. Another reason I believe this to be true, is recently watch a episode of Jay leno garage and they couldn't find any replacement shocks for some Maserati and there was no data available for spec's Bilstien took the originals and looked over there spec's and found like spec's from there off the shelf parts to make a set of shocks.
And if my theory is correct in finding correct steering knuckle mount for the coil overs is right all they would have to do is unscrew the current lower mount used to replace it with the new one. As the core of coil over is a threaded tube and is why I believe the coil over system to be virtually universal. I feel that my coil over probably share at least 60% commonality with all the coil overs they make. Its the mounts and spring length and spring rates that makes them different.
Just my theory, I'm no expert.
If the juice was worth the squeeze I would imagine they would be all over this. Alternatively there are probably of plenty other enthusiast platforms that stand a chance of selling far more sets of coilovers and therefore are being addressed to meet future customer needs.
Check this out, all though 2013 taurus isn't listed there is a contact below. Maybe worth a try.

Because the platform is shared across the Taurus, Flex, Explorer, and others (Lincolns and stuff), I say that the market is bigger than they may be anticipating, AND with more hitting the streets, demand will increase. Sure, the design is new for 2013, but I don't see it changing again anytime soon. It is a simple, elegant, and typical strut design more like an import car, and VERY easy to service compared with prior. Actually the prior one reminded me of the old German Capri / Escort UK type, which is not really a good thing at all due to the integration of the spindle and the strut itself. This new design is so much more simple to work with, and the market will expand as these cars keep spitting out of the factory.
Small spring rate and damper settings would be the only difference between Taurus, Flex, Explorer and others, and some of that could just be more or less clicks on the adjustable parts, really.
There are other coilover manufacturers out there. I think maybe we need to start pointing in those directions if Megan isn't up to the task.
I sent this email to Danny ...... Hope to get a reply

There are many of of there that feel you are leaving our members questions unanswered .
Many of the members are quite pleased with the Coilover Set that you offer for the Ford Flex and with only minor modifications it works on the 2010 to 2012 Taurus SHO as well ....
Since Ford changed the lower front mount on the OEM strut we have been told that Walter Chen is looking for a test vehicle. I Would do it but I live in Oklahoma.
I have a 2013 Taurus SHO that has many MODS and really want this Coil over setup.
My member name at EBPF is kbeck59 ..... please check it out as I am serious as are other members that want these coilovers
No one at EBPF has recieved a reply from Walter ?!
Please update us on this .....
Thanks , Kevin
First of all ...... THANK YOU Crash712us for posting the link for test vehicles with Danny at Megan Racing.
Second .. I dont know why Walter Chen has not given any further attention to the emails from dcpatters and others that have emailed him.
I sent an email to Danny yesterday and he sent me back a reply .... maybe Walter Chen was not the correct contact .....

Hello Kevin,
The forum will not allow me to access that page. I was not aware that anyone had been looking for Taurus for testing. Do you know any forum members that are in the socal area that would not mind letting me borrow their car for a bit? This is the first I have heard that the Flex kit would fit with minor modification and if that is the case it shouldn't take me much time to draw up a new front bottom bracket that we can adapt to the existing flex kit.
Please have anyone that is interested contact me directly, either through email or at the number below.
Thank you,
Best Regards,
Danny A.

Well looks like AJ stepped up and got a nod from Megan... Way to go! :thumb:
Kevin... Appreciate the work you've been doing on this. Was wondering.... Did you tell him registration was free and communicate with 4DR about getting them on board as official vendors for the site?

A J aka QuickSilver is stompin at the the bit , SHOmanMike84 and his SHO will be the first test vehicle and owner . It shouldn't be much long after that for the XSport . I am working with 4DR on the Vendor issues .
