Title: SHO whining noise?
Post by: Code AiR on February 16, 2020, 11:34:33 AM
Okay I have done a search most of what I have read is transmission failure. So I have a 2010 Taurus SHO. I hear a loud whining noise when the car is going up a "steep" incline or if I have the car over 4,000 rpms or in six gear over 2.5k or 3k rpms. I am going to assume its the torque converter making the noise? Just wondering if it is a turbo failing or possibly a air leak in the piping somewhere? It literally sounds like I have a supercharger on the engine.

It could be your Torque converter! How many miles on your SHO! Did you check for codes!  If you have a video of the sound in question it might be beneficial. Z

Check the PTU fluid for level/condition.

No codes being thrown. It only has 117k.

Good point, I'll do that probably past time for the fluid to be changed.
