Title: New Track Record for the SHO
Post by: Blackhawk on August 02, 2018, 02:19:22 PM
New SHO record set 11.38@124.4, get that thing back to the track BPD with the good tune.

Damn that's sick!  Yeah who did that?  Gotta have some footage or time slip or something!

I am aware of it.

No video though from what I understand, so anyone can take a pic of (1/2 of a) time slip and position it in front of one's car.

Plus, I also was informed it may have been more of a "glory run" and that that person's motor is already severely compromised.

I wouldn't place much weight in the claim until more concrete evidence is presented.

One and done and cheating with Nos is not my idea of impressive. Quite the contrary.

But if the legitimacy pans out, then kudos are in order.

Image attached...

S-S-I Tuned, 125 Shot of Nitrous, stock turbos, etc...

No video, no pictures with car numbers, the only evidence is a picture of "A" timeslip being held inside a car. Picture is attached from the FB post.

Additionally, BPD1151 is correct in that the engine maybe compromised. The guy that ran it also posted the car shutdown on him on the way home.. had to load the stock tune to get it running again... no updates beyond that...

You can always make a car go down the track fast...once...

***Zach Wright call him out HARD when he had "FASTEST SHO" originally in the title... so he edited it to say Ecoboost...

I don't care about the nitrous... it's just another power adder in my book...

But damn none of that tuners record are ever clean cut.... always something off about them....

I just hope ford does not pay if the engine is "shot".

Meh, I don't care if nitrous is used.  Plenty of records are set out there with people going to extremes to get there.  Weight reduction, hot tunes etc...   It's totally feasible a 125 shot could knock 8 tenths off a car that runs 12.20 with out nitrous.

Not only half of a time slip, but it seems that no one knows where or when this run supposedly occurred.  It seems like the super sloppy incorporated are continuing with PhD stuff...(PhD=Piled Higher and Deeper)

We will also be watching and looking into this as well, very little evidence besides the folded slip, and nitrous on an SHO? Wont last very long if it survived the one pass, if it actually made that pass at all

If you read the post a few above... the SHO that made that pass failed to make it home without some sort of failure.... but again... the guy has been quiet ever since...

I actually don't really doubt he made the pass... but I suspect there was no video or real evidence to back it up besides a slip....and he can't do it again because something is now dorked up....

What I don't understand is that if I made or was attempting to set a platform record I would have at a minimum taken a picture of the slip unfolded with the car numbers next to my SHO with numbers still on it....

Maybe he thought it was gonna blow and didn't want a video taken of S-S-I blowing up a motor....

Ultimately we may never know... and I doubt drag times are going to accept the submission with current evidence...

Why does it seem that every message that comes from that demographic is so confrontational? Lol

From the things I've seen from that camp is that records are all that matter even at the expense of engine safety

I've see too many logs from that side that are downright scary and I think that the vehicle owners actually have no clue and I feel bad for them...but hey if they break records or win a race all is good so I guess ignorance can be bliss lol

Hahahahahahaha!  That's actually even better than the original claim ShoNoff!!  In all reality this should have been video recorded at the very least I'd say.  Pictures lie, "Oh, look at the UFO I saw in my backyard!?"  C'mon Jon, I'm your next door neighbor and I never saw ****!

Can't expect BPD to defend every car someone grenades down the track, that's not real competition, its absolutely absurd.

I have seen a few logs as in well.... and it pretty much confirms two things...

1: The knock sensors never add or subtract any timing...that PID reads a big fat ZERO through every datalog...

2: All this talk about monitoring individual cylinders is complete crap....as I've never seen those DMRs in any of the logs......

And if the datalogs are not recording it... then that tuner isn't seeing it.....

kamikaze runs are stupid, pointless, and foolish.... and based on the logs I have seen... those drivers are unaware that they are a bad run away from destroying their cars....

Brad I couldn't agree more. When looking for a tuner for this car I came across their site. After reading for 3 minutes I felt like I was back in 2001 on a Honda Civic vs all forum Vtec always wins yo. I just don't get why they feel the need to s*** on every reputable tuner. It instantly turned me off to them.

1st I'd have Brad load up the MBT spark tables then raise the boost until  :nuclear:

Why all the hate for kamikaze runs to get a record?  Personally, I don't care whatsoever if someone else blows up their car, being ridiculous.  That's on them.  But if they set a record, then they get to claim it, end of story.  I'm not defending this particular guy, since I have no idea if he's telling the truth or not.  But if he set that time, then that's the record.  Makes zero difference if it explodes on the way home, lol.

I'm not positive there's "hate" in the true sense. None at all.

Look at my original post on this subject matter.

If it's legit, then kudos are deservedly in order.

The resulting discussions (however palatable, or not) center around whether or not it's legit.

One would think if a crack at the record is within reach, video of evidence at a minimum would be beneficial.

Anyone can post a pic of a slip. That and the lack of any other supportive details, documentation, etc. is highly suspect.

I think it was summed up best by one reply that dragtimes will likely NOT accept the submission as it stands.

Which would speak volumes to the credibility of the (alleged) record having been broken.

Now back to the regularly scheduled entertaining jocularity. Ha!

I dont think there is ANY hate here.  The problem is we keep hearing of people blowing up engine after engine with this particular tuner, all in a race to claim fame.  At some point, it gets OLD.  A legit record is the way bpd does it.  But as long as repair burdens fall on the owner and not Ford, these people can keep sticking their heads in this particular blender, and I would not have a problem with it.

Hit the nail on the head there. We had a customer come to us after having issues on an *** tune and getting fired for asking them to look at it.

Their log didn't show ANYTHING worth while, so we had them relog with our config file. Fuel rail pressure was in the 900s, knock sensor 0'd out as you said (as it was on their log as well). Swapped to our individual knock config and it did read, but man was it pulling timing.

I'm told that knock is normal for their tunes, and if you aren't knocking you aren't demanding enough out of your engine. LOL
