Title: SP 534 Spark plug superceded?
Post by: StinkinLinkin13 on February 18, 2019, 01:47:07 PM
So is the SP580 an improved spark plug? According to rock auto it is a "replacement" for sp534. Just wondering if there is actually a difference between the two.

I would assume they are the same "ish" plug.

I would say they are probably the same spark plug with just an revised part number (supercession) considering they are both Iridium! Dunno!
The last time the actual spark plug was replaced was many years ago from the Motorcraft SP-528 which were Platinum to the SP-534 Iridium plugs!  Z

Yeah, the SP528 insulators had a habit of cracking.  Thankfully no issues with the SP534 forward.

Is 0.032" now the recommended gap for stock application on 2013? I have the new SP580 plugs arriving tomorrow. :)

Thanks, Z! That is the most common value I could find from various sources. Much appreciated! :)
