Title: O2 sensor
Post by: avidmotion on February 06, 2019, 04:41:46 PM
How often is it a good idea to change the front O2 sensor? OEM says 100,000 miles, my racer minded mechanic says every 50,000 for the front one. What is the MC part number for this? Is any other brand good? I know Bosch sucks.

The Motorcraft are made by NGK/NTK IIRC!
DO NOT use anything but Motorcraft especially for your Front Primary wide-band 02 sensors and @ 50K would be good rule of thumb IMO! Z

BOTH FRONT 02 SENSORS have the same part number & 2 are required.

Best of luck and any questions you may have feel free to ask..

I am glad it is not Bosch as I have never had good luck with them in plugs or O2 sensors...

All -

I'm nearly 100% certain that the OEM O2 wideband sensors are actually Bosch.  If you look at the images on RockAuto, especially the sensor body and the heat resistant wire wrap, you can see that the Bosch part and the Motorcraft part match 1:1, that can not be said for the NTK or Denso options.  So, if you need OEM spec, I would suggest Motorcraft or Bosch.

What MY vehicle is it?  The widebands on my MY2012 have different connectors so they are not the same part number.  I bought 2 off of rock auto and the sensor on bank 1 had a different connector than the sensor on bank 2.  A call out to my local stealership got me a correct sensor albeit at stealership costs...

I don't have the part numbers on hand, but something to maybe keep in mind if you have a 10-12MY.  Check your connectors.

I was in the auto parts business for about 8 years and I can tell you with near 100% certainty the motorcrafts are made by Bosch. I had to replace an O2 on my SHO and confirmed this. Replaced with Bosch and have had no issues.
Generally I would say Bosch sucks but I always try to replace with oem.

Whats with all the Bosch hate?

There is a ton of Bosch items in our cars and there would probably be no Ecoboost without their technology.

BOTH FRONT Primary wide-band 02 SENSORS have the same part number & 2 are required.
FYI -I would suggest to change them in pairs especially both being AFR 02'S . Z

Awesome. Thanks.  Always was confused with the different banks and sensors.
