Took the saw and cut out grill blades carefully and then the dremel. Then some file/sanding by hand, all without removing the bumper..Next the lower grill this weekend. Not bad for 26 bucks and 2hrs work..need to make a few more shaving ajustments so the grill trim looks perfect/flush.

Cut a slit into mesh so it fits onto the tabs that are molded into the stock chrome piece and tuck it in tight..or you can go to the link posted above for tips and tricks..3m foam tape I used too..tested on highway and nice and secure.

Its a 2010 w/pp 25,000 miles and never any problems..just the chrome taillight peeling and fixed that with plasti dip. and just the PTU TSB 10-14-2 vent kit.

Came out great. Love the look. Curious what you used for the channel/beading that covers the cut edge of the remaining grill. Also what did you use for mesh, and how did you attach the mesh. You know what they say about imitation, and I'd copy that mod in a NY minute.

Definitely going to have to do this. The only question I have is what size slit in the trim did you use? I'm looking on customcargrills.com and not sure whether to get 1/16" or 1/8" (1st or 2nd option).

I used door trim from autozone, I used a heat gun on low to losing it up a bit for a easy install..If you take your time it will come out great..just tape chrome shave/file carefully till nice and neat.
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...uestid=1589220 (http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...uestid=1589220)
or the Neoprene Rubber Edge Trim XXL.. 1/8" is what im going to replace the autozone stuff with.

Bottom half all done..
looks nice ! anyway to add a Ford blue oval emblem in the center for a stock appearance ?
Not the best "how to" write-up, but I'll definitely be doing this.
Thankyou SHOdded...Im thinking of doing the chrome in black this spring..So far this Grill is holding up great during this cold crappy winter.

That's gonna be sharp Tom!
Looks super! .... I do think the black grill surround looks excellent on your ride!
It'll be interesting to see what you decide.
Like that snow pic! I think if the surround had a slight contrast to the mesh to offer some delineation/transition, it would look good even in darker shots. IMHO.
Where do you get that SHO emblem on the grille? I have been looking for one those. Very nice mod.
The SHO emblem is from rear of the car with the ecoboost badge cut away.

yes I too want to do this as i am not a fan of the 2010-2012 grills.. with a decent mesh with the center cut out it looks awesome. I really admire the craftmanshift too. Doesn't look to difficult at all. I will be trying this in the summer.
Well good news. Wife asks me what do you want for father's day? I sent her link to this & she was like get it done
Can anyone fix the pics in this thread? all broken for me :(

It appears Photobucket is down for the moment but will try again later. Z
Photobucket's been having issues on and off lately. But it looks like the images have been moved or deleted.
I know this is old, but I just discovered it lol. That's a sweet looking grill! I want to do that to my 13, but I have to see if I can pull it off without removing the bumper. Very nice work

I know the grill surround comes out easily without bumper removal, but the actual grill requires some work to remove, I had my surround off and was going to pull the grill as well, but couldn't see a way to do it without a bumper removal.
I guess with any venture would simply avoid Tommy Z Grilles as many have had bad experience to say the least. Z

That's a shame that people had so much trouble with him. I'd rather have the satisfaction of ordering the materials and making it myself, anyway

There is a guy on facebook selling new molded grills for 325 shipped I believe for 2010-2012. I will be buying one in the spring.

FYI- These PB PICS ^^ unfortunately have been Deleted permanently. Z :(
Man, do I ever REALLY want to do something like this on my car. I don't wan't to cut up the actual grilles though... Does anyone know how to remove the 2 grilles on the 2013+ Lincoln MKS? I can't figure it out, lol. It's totally not fair that the Taurus turbo model gets a cool black mesh grille, but the MKS turbo model gets the same grille as the base model. I want to use a material as similar as possible to the SHO mesh. Without being able to remove the existing grilles intact, I don't feel comfortable trying it out.
Here is the official procedure
