I could just be me but I'm not all that thrilled with the sound quality from the audio system in my MKT. With all the speakers and power running the system I expected more. I listen to mostly music from my ipod and HD radio. Don't really have CD's anymore. Just feels like the base is too heavy in the door speakers and very limited from the 10" sub in the rear. The whole thing sounds muddy most of the time. Is there something I'm missing?
I could not find anything related to the MKT in particular but found some distortion issues with the MKX,think its more of a wide spread issue than it appears,here's the link. thanks for looking! I will check tonight to see if the sub is actually functioning. 14 speakers with a decent amount of power and a 10" sub should not sound like this. If feels like the different frequencies are not being directed correctly. I may have to dig out a cd to determine if this sounds any better.
Go into audio settings and turn off surround mode. I assume it is the same system in the SHO with the audio upgrade? But turning off the surround mode made mine sound much better.

I did mess around with that. Will give it another try and play a variety of tracks

good find!! thank you for this. read the article. I know my Hyundai requires both the usb and the 3.5mm to be connected to the ipod. They sell a special cable for this. I will mess around with things more. thanks again for the input from everyone!!

So I played around with this more. I turned off the surround mode. Some songs it sounds better while others not so much. The sub in the rear is in fact working.
