MYFORD TOUCH CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT AWAITS TRIAL
MyFord Touch Consumer Litigation says infotainment screens go black.  Z

FEBRUARY 25, 2018 — A Ford MyTouch class-action lawsuit is scheduled for trial in May after multiple lawsuits were consolidated into a case called the "MyFord Touch Consumer Litigation."

The MyFord Touch infotainment systems are advertised as the answer for functions such as navigation and GPS, controlling climate control systems and functions related to smartphones and MP3 players. However, customers for years have complained the systems are full of problems and can easily cost $1,000 to repair.

Owners say Ford has known about the problematic systems because the automaker sent technical service bulletins to dealerships about owners complaining about the systems going wacky and the screens going black.

Documents presented in court allegedly show Ford engineers knew the touchscreen systems had problems before the vehicles were sold to the public. Even worse, the plaintiffs allege Ford executives stopped using the systems in their own cars because they were tired of the problems.

Court documents say Ford's statements indicate fixes for the systems haven't worked, and using software updates for safety features such as rear-view cameras and defrosters haven't solved the MyFord Touch problems.

Owners report their systems shutting down while driving, then turning back on with a message saying maintenance is being performed. To some this wouldn't be a problem, until you need the system for an important function while driving.

There is not to much info pertaining to the article but only states that lawsuits were filed as early as 2013! Dunno. I will certainly keep you updated.  Z

Ford is in Deep with the Fiesta and Focus Transmission problem too. Another Mass Action Lawsuit is pending since they will only try to correct the trans problems up to a certain point. Of course they wont replace it. Once you have exhausted all of Fords fixes. You are SOL with a Bum transmission. This is where my Mom is at currently.

Is this problem with auto's or sticks or both? Curious if ST's are in this mix of problems?

As far as Z's post, I wonder if this is another one of those deals where the lawyer's just end up making all the money and the consumers get screwed. I generally can't stand class action suits because of that small little tiny thing called...MONEY.

I doubt anything will come of these lawsuits.  The public will be appeased in some fashion, then the hammer will be dropped that it will be all on their dime in some way.  Note the massive f-up known as the airbag recall.  This rabbit hole goes DEEP.

It is the Auto trans that acts like a manual. Just the regular Fiesta and Focus's. Good idea. Poor design.

Lawyers always make the money and Ford has enough to pay all concerned parties off but not their customers.

FORD AGREES TO SETTLE MYFORD TOUCH LAWSUIT MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch customers in 7 states may be eligible for benefits.  Z

JUNE 5, 2018 — Ford has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit that alleges MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch infotainment systems malfunction on a routine basis.

The plaintiffs claim the systems freeze, fail to connect to phones, won't provide correct GPS information, fail to respond to repeated voice commands and finally crash.

According to the lawsuit, Ford has known for years about the defective systems and according to the judge, internal documents from Ford have details about repairs that didn't fix the problems. The documents also suggest Ford knew the system failures could cause safety hazards while driving.

The class-action lawsuit includes all customers in the following seven states who purchased or leased a Ford or Lincoln vehicle through a Ford dealership before August 9, 2013.

California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and Washington.

MYFORD TOUCH CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT PRELIMINARILY APPROVED

Class action alleges systems go black, freeze and fail to respond to voice and touch commands. Fingers crossed.  Z

MAY 26, 2019 — A MyFord Touch class action lawsuit has been preliminarily approved after years of both sides arguing in front of a California federal judge.

The lawsuit started as a proposed nationwide class action, but by the end included Ford and Lincoln customers in only seven states: California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and Washington.

According to the lawsuit, the Ford or Lincoln vehicles must be equipped with MyFord Touch or MyLincoln Touch systems, and the vehicles must have been sold or leased by Ford dealers before August 9, 2013.

Customers complained they suffered with MyFord Touch systems that crashed, blacked out, froze, failed to respond to voice or touch commands and backup camera displays that failed or showed previous images.
