How about a "THANK" or "LIKE" system for helpful replies? I don't really like the kind that track "THANKS" and have a number (Number of thanks) for each member next to it, but rather the kind where within the thread, a post will indicate if somebody has given it a nod. I know that was confusing. Sorry. I am saying the post itself, not the member, should have an indication that a thank was posted, versus a popularity contest for members trying to get as many thanks as they can. I must be having a brain kink, because I just read what I wrote and it sounds like gibberish. Let me try to find a link to one of my forums that has the system I am referring to.
I know what you're talking about, I tried to do it but it but the mod wasn't made for this forum version so I've engaged pro services to do it.

Many forums I belong to have Admins and Moderators. Some even have many moderators and ONE Admin. I honestly don't care either way, but I was just wondering, are you sticking to solely Admins for the heirarchy?
Right now there's so much going on at once that it was easier to make people admins. I will go through the permissions over the next week and set people to super moderator or moderator.

I am fairly confident this is user error on my part, but I've tried modifying my profile and settings several times to avoid getting any emails whatsoever about new replies to threads I am active in, without success. Basically, I check the forums several times a day and I don't want to get email simply telling me there's been a reply posted. What am I doing wrong?

If you go into your profile then head for
modify profile> notifications
then uncheck the box that says "Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic" (it may already be unchecked) and save
Then look just below to "Current Topic Notifications"
and check and remove any existing topics that you dont want to be notified about.

Is there a way I can move pictures directly from Photobucket to my posts, like on almost all other sites? If so what am I doing wrong that is different than elsewhere?

If you are looking at your album of thumbnails on PB, put your arrow on the gear in the top left of a thumb and a menu comes up. Click on get links. Then a window pops up. Pick the bottom link and click. It will turn yellow and say copied. Them go to your post and right click it in. It's harder to explain than to do.
I click on the "url" link (believe it is the last one) and it shows "Copied" and then I past that to site... at least elsewhere.

My only problem is that when I go to expand pictures by clicking on them. It takes me to a blank PB page. Then when I close that page and go back to the post, it has enlarged the picture.
I hope you all figured out that I have modified my Flex EB engine to be Front to back from the pix I copied! I experienced a 20% gain in performance! Unfortunately I broke over 327 Shoe Horns... and I now weigh 97 lbs!

and then either surround it by [img ] [/ img] tags or use the image icon

Actually if you just click on the bottom link and then paste it in your post, it works fine...and you don't have to surround it with anything.

The problem was the whole problem with the image making the image a link.
I'm not sure if a chat room feature is supported, but I've participated on a couple of chat-equipped forums in the past and they've been popular. I suppose the shout box could be utilized this way, but it has a different feel to it. Any chance this could be researched? I'd like to talk to you guys in a more natural "sit around" way.
We could install chat software, I'll look at it this weekend.
Excellent! I'm excited for this place to really take off. It is, by far, the most functional of the EB-oriented forums. We just all have to hang in here for the mod bug to bite more and more people as they progress through their payment books.

I'll take a look, most of the things I'm seeing are very out of date.
Maybe I'm not seeing it, but I don't see a place where I can see messages that I sent or and outbox of messages.
When you reply to a PM it will show it in the thread of the conversation.
EDIT you may have to turn on that functionality see the attached picture.
Sometimes when I click on "show unread" it brings up already read posts.

looking at a few of these.
On the chatroom, the easiest way is to use a shoutbox that is already implemented with the portal (the thing that does the side blocks, panels etc). I have multiple chatrooms on my site (its a cycling site - we have a different chat for each race that is going on)
the downside is, this site uses EzPortal which i havnt looked into a great deal, I use SimplePortal which I know my way around like the back of my hand.
I see that the boss has implemented a chat of sorts, although it seems a little random as to who is available and who isnt. :S There are other options if needed.

ok, have switched the pm notification method. This was largely a browser issue with new code. In opera it was working fine, in chrome it was working in some versions and not others, and in firefox it was not working at all.
I have replaced the popup (which has varying results in different browsers - and some ad blockers dont like it - and its not very effective on some mobiles), with a jquery announcement instead. (which is green, has the eco boost logo and shows you how many messages you have).

Did you see my"shout" comment on adding vehicle type & year to the left column by thank yous. (2010 SHO, 2011 FLEX, 2012 F150 etc.)
This would help the confusion I see over some tune types and other mods that aren't available for all models.

I'm sure it can be done with lots of coding, I'll see how much Dim will charge me to do it.
Hopefully not too much... I get confused with F150 tuners who don't tune SHO's or FLEX.

We'll see how the new super server hosting likes it. So far so good. Once we're up in membership and the load is too much I'll limit it.
I still am not getting any notice I have unread messages....everything else is working and super fast, but no notification at all about messages......
Maybe you don't have any messages! LOL I get mine. Of course I send them to myself mostly.

you running any script blockers or ad blocker? it may be mistakenly spotting the alert as an ad.
Two items of info:
First, I get a new message notification on loading any page on the server as soon as the pm posts... It appears in a colored dialog box at the top with a link to go to the message. I also get an email notification of new messages via the email I registered on the forum signup.
Second... and this may be unique. For images uploaded to the EBF server (not those linked from photobucket, etc.which just appear in the posts) clicking on the link for a non-displayed pic gets me an empty image file downloaded, BUT left click in the blank area where the pic should be overlays my browser transparent darkened window field with a gallery to view all the pics posted within a given individual post. This field has a string of small preview boxes at the bottom for selection of individual pics, or the entire thing will play like a slideshow. It just takes a minute or so to load depending on the number of pics... and I suspect the image files are large and likely Hi-Def.
The important point is the functionality is apparently there. It just wasn't intuitive due to the speed of loading... which could even be my connection.
Hope this helps others who have had a simiar "problem"
It is interesting to me that my phone and tablet (both iOS7) display avatars... while all my computers (5 in three locations tried with MacOS (two versions) and Win 7) and every browser but Chrome only display some, while others are blank outlines or malformed/incompletely loaded... This could be a java issue or a server timeout on communications (ping) issue.... more after I figure this one out.
It would be convenient if there was an indication on any page that the given thread was bookmarked, or maybe a "bookmarks" popup contextual menu so the user could check quickly themselves or even jump to the bookmarked page.

There isn't any. Just click the QUOTE button on every post you intend to respond to, they will all be added to your reply post box. Add your replies, then click on POST.
