Title: Another turbo gone bad. (69k Miles)
Post by: NITSOOB on March 04, 2018, 04:51:07 PM
Hooked up a smoke machine to the DPs and both turbos are leaking at the wastegate control arm. And before that I was already leaking oil, most likely at the seals, after a long idle.

I was getting lean codes, tightened a few things,it marginally improved, but still at about +10% to +15% on my fuel trims. Also my runs at the track have been fairly inconsistent. I've trapped 103 to 108 in the 1/4 and 80 to 86 in the 1/8. Most recently, I ran a 13.1 @ 105 with a KAM reset before my run.

Just thought Id share. That I know, this isnt serviceable, probably just going with new turbos. And maybe upgrade to a billet wheel. If anyone knows of good deals let me know!

Yikes!  Thank you for posting your experience.  Sure to help plenty of folks in the years to come.

As far as deals, a couple of people have done the upgrade available from eBay, positive reports so far.  That is one option.  EcoPowerParts offers upgraded turbos and CHRA options IIRC.

I hope it's not contagious. :D .Best of luck on a probable permanent fix.  Z
