Title: Just to verify (2015 upgrade to PP brakes)
Post by: 4sfed on August 12, 2018, 10:56:13 PM
Hey everyone!  From the posts I've read, it seems like I need the following items to upgrade my 2015 non-PP to PP brakes.  Can someone verify that what I THINK I found, is the case?

The only things I need to upgrade to the PP brakes on my 2015, is;

Do I need the caliper brackets?  Lines?  Am I missing anything?  I've got the 20" wheels, so it sounds I've got the clearance...

AND what would I look for?  I've seen "package 1", "police sedan", etc.  Are all those the same thing?

Thanks in advance,
Stan

Calipers and pads - yes.  Rotors remain the same for all versions of the SHO.

Used to be the 2013+ PP calipers offered upgraded seals and cross-drilled pistons.  I think the x-drilled units have gone the way of the dodo, but upgraded seals remain.  May or may not be identifiable by color (orange for upgraded, in the past).

Would need to double check with a VIN for a 2013+ PP, but here goes:

FRONT:

DG1Z-2B120-A   Caliper 1
Caliper, RIGHT
W/ SHO, W/ O POLICE INTERCEPTOR, W/ SHO PKG 1
$67.27   $42.55

DG1Z-2B121-A   Caliper 1
Caliper, LEFT
W/ SHO, W/ O POLICE INTERCEPTOR, W/ SHO PKG 1
$67.24   $42.53

13   GB5Z-2001-A   Brake Pads
W/ SHO, W/ O POLICE INTERCEPTOR, W/ BLACK CALIPERS
$105.49   $66.72

GG1Z-1125-A   Rotor
Rotor, LEFT/RIGHT
W/ SHO, W/ O POLICE INTERCEPTOR, FROM 07/ 28/ 2010
$119.85   $75.81

REAR (parts are common to all Taurus models I think):

8   EG1Z-2552-C   Caliper 1
TAURUS; LEFT/RIGHT; 3.5L; W/ TURBO; FROM 12/ 2/ 13; PAINTED BRAKE CALIPERS
$112.91   $71.42

So Police Package is different from Package 1?

Pkg 1 and painted calipers have been PP designators in the past.  The Interceptor comes in the 3.7 and 3.5EB versions, so not sure what that implies in the description.

I've got a 2019 non PP SHO. I'd like to upgrade the brakes for more stopping power as in PP or police interceptor. From reading this, I require new front calipers and pads but the rotors are the same. Is this correct?  Any suggestions?

Damn shame I couldn't find a PP SHO with low mileage in 2019. It be nice to have the cooler for the transmission and PTU. I really can't upgrade that.

Yes, rotors are the same.  As an alternative to PP pads, you can choose from any number of the police package pads from the aftermarket as well.
