Title: more SHO problems
Post by: Spyder3000gtvr4 on April 03, 2019, 10:39:05 PM
Long story... bought sho with blown turbos, replaced turbos 5 miles later water pump fails, thought I caught it early enough. Swapped out water pump tried cleaning out all oil I could. 2 oil changes within 500 miles. Drive the car yesterday car developed slight knocking. Where do I start????

Check compression first.  Always.  If compression is compromised, the engine is toast for all practical purposes :(

Hopefully the knocking sound is behind the timing cover and not in the block itself.  May even be a suspension item.

Oh it's definitely the engine. Had today off started it up barely noticeable. Figure maybe something stupid is lose. Pull out driveway lightly accelerate barely hear anything.... ok cool. Mile from my house then bad knocking. Pull into to shopping center grab a few things let the car cool a bit. Start car horrendous knocking, stall.... dead.

Guess I didn't catch the failed water pump fast enough, 20 hours and a few hundred in parts it only lasted 600 miles after water pump failure. Thanks ford. This sho just keeps on giving me pleasure :)

This post brought to you from the parking lot while waiting for the wife to leave work, grab rope from boat so I can be pulled home lol

Water pump or timing system.  Either way, yeah, boatload of fun.  Hopefully no coolant in the oil.  Or bent valves.
