Title: Plug gap for M-12405-35T and muffler recommend?
Post by: TopherSho on January 03, 2021, 07:02:29 PM
Lost to a NA SRT8 Jeep today... Unacceptable.

I have ignored the 2 nagging "not now issues long enough."

1- what gap is everyone running the M-12405-35T at?  There default ..029 .. but they feel and log at lower spark levels than the sp542's. ... I feel they should be .027 at most with that tiny tip..

And what mufflers do I need .. the OEM replacements suck.  Hard.  They killing me and the noise they make is awful

Thoughts?

.026 to .028 depending on what the tuner recommends on the plugs...

Mufflers are noise only until you need 2.5" all the way through. Which is needed when you upgrade turbos based on the data. Stock exhaust is fine.

Ok last time I talked to Brad .027 was his thoughts on the new tips.

I'm surprised on the thought of leaving the mufflers alone. But you are wiser than I.

Ok PPE CATS on order.  We'll have to go back for a rematch after that.

I ran those plugs at .026 all summer, no issues.

Corsa catback sounds fine cruising at 65-70 or any other constant speed. It only sounds bad (to me) when you are accelerating, maybe 2K-2500 rpms or so it has that honda sound to it.

Made contact at Gearhead.  :(  I wish I knew what was happening to Brad.. I feel guilty talking to them about upping my tune when the cats arrive.

Think about it logically. You are the customer, you paid him. No reason whatsoever to feel guilty about going elsewhere even if he did reply to emails.

I've used almost all the major tuners (brad included) and i'd be willing to bet once you go gearhead you will not look back.

They were closed from christmas thru new years, I think yesterday was their first day being back open so they are probably catching up from a week's plus worth of requests.

I think normally when you buy a tune the turnaround time is usually a day or two.

New plugs @  .026 on order with GH and a tune.  Plugs and base tune set for the 13th or so ..
PPE downpipes 7 weeks away /cry/

Still eyeballing the mufflers .. wish i had a TIG ... id cut the backs off and drill the baffles a bit then put the backs on again ..
