Might just be Sync 2 taking a big $hi* like it usually does.

I have Sync1.  It doesn't do it in mine.  Sync 2 is known to be finicky ...Sync1 is very outdated.  Sync 3 is supposed to be the best of all

All SHOs have a minimum of Sync2.

Is your Sync2 uptodate?  Check sync support at owner.ford.com

Are there multiple active BT devices in your vehicle?

Have you tried deleting all devices and readding one by one?

Is your phone software uptodate?

I am sure the bt version of sync is way older than your phone's.  That can cause dropouts as well.

How do you update the sync software ?
Go to owner.ford.com, register your vehicle, then download the latest update from the Sync support site.
https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html

After downloading the ZIP file to your home computer, unzip it onto a blank formatted USB drive, 8 GB or so name brand is best, FAT32 format.  Then plug the drive into your Sync system and let it upgrade the software.  Either have the battery on a tender or keep the car running during the update.
