Title: 3rd cat & resonator delete feedback
Post by: Mossdahaus on September 01, 2019, 07:10:07 PM
So I had a bright idea to order a replacement Xpipe from one of the major catback manufacturers to bolt in a resonator & 3rd cat delete.

Looking for feedback on tone, volume and rasp to go along with my current SW catted downpipes and stock mufflers on deleting these 2?

The Xpipe will make it louder and it will probably get a little rasp but I think it will sound less raspy with your mufflers than if it were straight piped. Overall I think you'll find a little bit of rasp easy to live with.

I believe I have mostly done what your asking about to my '17 Explorer Sport.
From stock down pipes, exhaust goes into a 2.5" magnaflow X-pipe, then out into two straight 2.5" pipes back into twin Magnaflow hiflow mufflers (this section is Magnaflow's 2.5 explorer's setup.)
Sounds ok but dont expect a v8 sound. It's not loud but people will recognize you have an exhaust immediately.  You can hear the turbo's spooling out the exhaust which is cool.

Hey Chaplain,
I know this is an old post but I saw your pictures and sent you a pm, not sure if you got the chance to see it so i thought id just replay to this post. Hows that setup been for you? I have PPE catted DPS and oem 3rd cat and resonator. I had my mufflers replaces with some vibrant ultra quiet resonators. I find its a good balance where it keeps the muffler delete drone we all experience at bay but i wanna wake it up a little bit more. I was thinking of straight piping the resonator and keeping the 3rd cat oem cause a lot of people have mentioned the minute they remove that, a lot of rasp develops. Hows your x pipe with the resonator delete been? I know youre not exactly the same setup as me but you have aftermarket mufflers like me so maybe i can gauge what its like living with this setup daily

Do you mind sharing the part number ofDescriptions.  Or should I ask if that is the:  MagnaFlow 2.25in. Tru-X Crossover Performance Exhaust X-Pipe 10790
