Title: Need help with LED bulbs
Post by: FracaSHO on April 21, 2014, 10:58:07 AM
I am thinking of converting my interior and exterior lights to LED's.  I have done my research and I think I may have the proper parts.  But I am not good in the electrical department.  I would appreciate help with confirming whether the parts I show are correct / will work, and any suggestions or advice you may have.  I have read through all the how to's, that's where I got most of my info.  I posted a link to each individual part, with a description under it.

This is what I am leaning toward for the interior dome lights, or

But these may be too bright.

Front side markers.  Mine are really dim so they may need to be replaced regardless.  Since the cover is amber, I am sticking with amber color.

Brake lights

These would be for the the very top bulb in the tail lights, the small ones.  Not sure what you would call it; rear side marker, parking lights, other?

Load resistors for turn signals.

I think I have everything covered, and with the exception of the front side markers, which I think may be a PITA to replace, it should be a fairly simple and straight forward job.  I already have the mirror lights covered.  And I can't for the life of me find anything for the lower "light strips" on the front.  If an when I do this job, I will post a how to.  I know there are some already out there, but I haven't seen any regarding the rear lights.  Thanks

Since you are planning to go with vLEDs on all counts... just call them. I have found them very willing to answer questions directly.  Then there's no guessing.

The big thing is to make sure not only that you have the correct bulb, but that you don't need to add resistors.

You have to be careful with the 2010 interior bulbs, the bulbs in bpd's how to would not fit in my car, the fixtures are completely different from Mike's. The strange thing is that our car's were built on 10 days apart. So in that time frame Ford changed interior fixtures, the bulbs that Mike used in the map lights and in the rear were too big, so check your fixtures to see if they are like the one's shown or different.
