Lovely the f55 has the same issue the f35!

The solenoid design flaw can be fixed by the sonnex kit. People also manage to fix it by stiffer mounts, lighter wheels and/or higher shift pressures (approx 5% on the problem shifts).

Anyone tried a shift kit on the 6F55?

Have you tried shooting a tune request over for more aggressive shifting pressures, Brick? We routinely alter shifting points, pressures and logic for many of our clients! Just shoot over a request for the modifications that you would like. Now, am I making you promises or saying that the calibrators will put your trans on murder for you, no. However it does not hurt to ask!

Hilarious....

Because some tuners do "put your trans on murder" and I think many folks are unaware of it.

My 6F55 with the Livernois tune has by far the best transmission behavior I have ever experienced.  Driven normally, the shifts are smooth as silk - both upshifts and downshifts.  Driven aggessively, it will chirp the tires on the 1-2 shift and the other shifts are firm and quick.   The improved shifting is almost as impressive as the additional power provided by the tune.  Not sure what else anyone could want in terms of transmission behavior.

Wouldn't it be a better solution to fix the problem with the valve body?
Isn't doing this with the tune covering up a problem?

My understanding of the issue is that the design of the solenoid body and the o-rings allows more pressure out of the valve body than desired. You are technically masking the issue by raising shift pressure but it should not hurt the transmission or cause further issues. Ideally you want the kit, but unless you have a trashed trans already, can DiY or know someone who will do the work it is tough to get done. Most shops don't want to touch a transmission that is working.

Considering I saw an improvement by decreasing unsprung weight I think the tolerances on the design are just slightly off. Hopefully there is eventually a TSB to correct this without a failed trans.

Some people have pushed dealers to fix it but that is a tough sell so far.

I am surprised no one has installed the Sonnax kit.

Maybe I will be the first.

To my knowledge, Jacob Lewellen, and one other person installed the Sonnax kit.

But both trans have since crapped out a 2nd time. Not due to the kit I believe.

But I wouldn't say you'd be the 1st in the technical sense.

Only if you repeatedly tell everyone you were the first to do something like it matters somehow, like bpd does. Lol j/k  :alkashi:

I don't even hear of the Sonnax kit being used on the 6F50, let alone the 6F55.  It's not cheap, but will help those looking for better shifting.  Ultimately though, at the extreme, you need to have better gears & clutches.  With the MTX SHOs, having a heavy duty gear set is key to insane power throwdowns.  Same here.  Better fluid & cooling to go with.

Is an aftermarket heavy duty gear and clutch set available?

Nope.  That's why Livernois' build will be a necessary breakthrough.

Correct.

I have spoken with Dan Millen, and the same vendor that built the upgraded trans for their Ecostang (that broke records) will be the same vendor that he (highly) recommends building my upgraded trans.

In addition to this vendor, they will work closely together to fabricate any upgraded parts that appear to be needed.

Dan told me it is much easier for him (& this vendor) to crack open the case on a functioning trans and go from there, rather than sending him a completely grenaded one. So this why I have been sitting back and chilling with the racing for the time being.

That being said, I am hopeful this is something I can tackle by late summer of this year, as I am currently awaiting contract resolution (2yrs out now and in binding arbitration as I type this) so the anticipated retro check arriving will help fund this trans mod.

Besides, my SHO is currently under going an audio build (& has been since mid January 2017) and although I try to tackle one major project per year (as funds allow) I am hopeful to be able to sneak in two major projects for 2017. Time will tell.

I will be sure to keep the community posted accordingly.
