Title: Do I have a problem??......or is it in my head???
Post by: JaRN99 on February 16, 2018, 11:25:51 PM
Just purchased used 2015 Explorer Sport last month......first EcoBoost I've owned. Came from a 2013 Explorer XLT with 3.5 NA. With the new Explorer it seems that when it's colder out and the engine isn't up to full operating temp there seems to be a very light hesitation or possible miss under a load.....not even a heavy load but a light load. There's no CEL on and no codes in the system. I recall reading somewhere online (forget where) that the 3.5 EcoBoost will do this until it warms up. Does anyone else experience this. It may be just me but I can swear I feel it at times in the steering wheel. The thing I'm worried about it at 54k miles (I bought it with 56k on it) the previous owner had it in for warranty repair (CEL on) and had an engine sensor, timing chain, one of the turbos and some other miscellaneous items replaced. I'm just wondering if what I may possibly be feeling is normal characteristic of the 3.5 EB engine when cold, a possible problem with the repairs just preformed or maybe a new issue developing.  Thanks in advance.

I would Check/change your spark plugs for any such oil inside the spark plug wells especially if original!
Check the TRANS FLUID to make sure its full preferably a pint extra over the Fill line!
Wastegate Hoses intact?
Which exact sensor was replaced?

Check the CAC (intercooler)for any oil  pooling with an oil dipstick!
How To can be found below!  Z
