Greetings all,
I figure I should post in here to introduce myself, even though I've already got a large thread going in the super helpful Troubleshooting sub-forum trying to track down a pesky issue with my car.
I'd been looking at the SHOs since they came out, my dad had one of the first gen ones back when I was a kid, and I started looking for a reliable daily driver that offered luxury level comfort, suitable performance, and didn't have the price tag of a Lexus or Infiniti or whatever. I kept coming back to the SHO over and over.
Finally, in January, I found a mildly neglected SHO at an insurance auction and purchased it through a dealer near Detroit. She had some fresh water "flood damage" from the floods in South Carolina last year. After inspection it appeared only the carpets were wet because nothing electronic was damaged at all. I say "flood damage" as I've got suspicions the original owner just hosed it out to get out from the note, because it's the cleanest flood car I've ever touched. I could be wrong though. Maybe it did get a little wet and the insurance company was just totaling everything from South Carolina at the time to make it easy. Anyway, The carpet was removed and professionally cleaned, the car dried, and put back together. All of the fluids were tested for water ingress and came back healthy, but they were all changed anyway. After that was done, I flew up to Detroit and drove the 1200-ish miles back home through some terrible weather, but she got me home with no incident. I'm no stranger to insurance/salvage/reconstruct cars as I've bought and sold them for years, but this is certainly the most complex and "nicest" car I've picked up this way. She's been great. About 7,000 of flawless service that ended with an injector failure in #1, but I think we're almost through that issue and back to reliable daily duty. I absolutely love the car and plan on keeping it for quite a while.
Hopefully I won't be a lurker any more as the forum is a wealth of knowledge and I hope to contribute at some point. I haven't started modding the SHO yet, but once she's 100% again that'll likely get started.
